Day 6 - Friday 14th June - Return to Edinburgh, Historic Edinburgh, The Castle & Rosslyn Chapel

Your Royal Scotsman journey finishes today, returning you to Edinburgh where you will be met by a private driver to take you to drop your bags in your hotel. Your engaging expert local guide meets you here in the hotel foyer and together you set off to explore Edinburgh’s Old Town, and some of the local foodie delights along the way.

There is much to be discovered and your private guide will ensure that you experience the very best day possible. Their local knowledge will allow them to bring the city’s rich history and heritage to life like no book can, providing you with a unique insider’s introduction to the city. The Old Town is brimming with cobbled streets, tightly-packed buildings, narrow closes and hidden courtyards and your explorations will finish with the mighty Edinburgh Castle with views out over the city.

This evening your main trip guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to soak in the unique atmosphere of Rosslyn Chapel, just a short distance outside the city.  Founded in 1446 as the Collegiate Church of St. Matthew, the chapel is famous for its remarkable stone carvings depicting Biblical stories and moral messages. In 2003, a new chapter was added to the Rosslyn Chapel’s history with the publishing of The Da Vinci Code, and filming for the 2006 movie took place at the chapel. Explore the chapel’s history with an expert private guide, both ancient and modern, and unravel the mysterious of this enigmatic place of worship before your guide takes you back to your hotel

Overnight: Edinburgh | The Balmoral

Day 7 - Saturday 15th June - Transfer to Gleneagles via Stirling Castle

Your private trip guide (who will also act as your driver for your time together) will collect you from your hotel this morning and together you will head north. Take a wee bit of a detour so that you can stop to explore the mighty Stirling Castle, which was the childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. This castle has withstood a turbulent history, so there are plenty of tales to discover before you carry on towards your luxurious resort hotel. Your guide will ensure you arrive with plenty of time to settle in and maybe enjoy some of the world class facilities before you freshen up for dinner.

Overnight: Perthshire | Gleneagles
Room Type: Estate Rooms in the Main House

Day 8 - Sunday 16th June - Day Trip to St Andrews

St. Andrews is the world’s premier destination for golfers, with the earliest documented evidence of golf in the town dating from 1553. It is also the spiritual and administrative home of the sport: the R&A is based here and Thomas Mitchell Morris Sr was born here. He is known as Old Tom Morris and worked as an apprentice and helped establish the first ever professional tournament. The legendary Old Course is located in the town and completing it is the ultimate achievement for the serious golfer.

Explore this famous university town with an expert local guide, discovering where Prince William and Kate Middleton both received their education. Admire the sweeping coastal views and soak in the years of history in the cathedral as you hear the local stories. Your main guide will return you to your luxurious hotel and then depart, leaving you to celebrate your last evening in Scotland together.
