Number of Travellers: 8
Duration: 5 Days / 4 Nights

Overview

Picturesque coastal towns and villages, green pastoral fields, soaring cliffs, wild barren landscapes, the crash of the ocean, the laugh of a local. Ireland is romantic and authentic, a home away from home where both old and modern seem to cohabit seamlessly on a small island in the middle of the sea. Packed with history and tradition your days are spent exploring the island of Ireland’s famous and off-the-beaten-track sites of natural, cultural and political interest. A world-renowned food scene means your evenings are spent dining in style, and with the promise of a pub just around the corner, music and laughter are never far away. Your trip to Ireland will surprise and delight you, but the people of Ireland will stay with you long after your journey has taken you home.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Thursday 19th June - Céad Míle Fáilte

Céad míle fáilte, or “one hundred thousand welcomes” to Ireland! Arriving at Cork Airport your private guide will meet you at arrivals, and after some short introductions, together you will make your way into the city. Take some time to settle in at your hotel and enjoy the peacefulness of this city centre escape. Tonight, your guide will join you for a welcome dinner and a chance to chat about the week to come.

Overnight: Cork | The Montenotte
Room Type: x4 Luxury Boutique Twin
Meals Included: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2 - Friday 20th June - The Rebel City

There is no better introduction to this city than to join a local historian for an engaging walking tour of this lively capital city. Explore some of Cork’s best-known attractions while also enjoying the benefit of local knowledge by visiting spots hidden off the tourist trail. You’ll hear tales of murder, spy craft, tragic love stories and stories of heroes and villains of the Irish struggle for independence over 100 years ago. This afternoon, you arrive in Killarney town and have some free time before heading to some local pubs for a music session.

Overnight: Killarney | International Hotel Killarney
Room Type: x4 Classic Twin
Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 3 - Saturday 21st June - Lakes of Killarney & The Kerry Way

One of Ireland’s most famous long-distance trails, your hike today winds along a stunningly beautiful portion of the Kerry Way. Starting at Muckross House, a gorgeous 19th-century mansion in the national park, follow the trail past fields of grazing cattle and glittering lakes towards Torc Mountain. Enveloped under a dense green canopy of trees is the stunning Torc Waterfall, one of Killarney’s most iconic gems. Walk up the mountain through the magical woodland, enjoy tantalising glimpses of the view through the trees before descending into the valley and along the shores of Muckross Lake along the Old Kenmare Road, an ancient cobbled path from bygone times. The Lakes of Killarney play an integral role in the region and a wonderful way to experience them is on the water. End the day with a relaxing boat trip across the lakes, gazing over the landscape you covered today on foot.

Overnight: Killarney | International Hotel Killarney
Room Type: x4 Classic Twin
Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 4 - Sunday 22nd June - The Skellig Islands

The Skelligs are two jagged rock pinnacles rising above battering Atlantic waves. It was on the UNESCO site Skellig Michael that the monks of yesteryears once lived and prayed in stone beehive huts, which still cling to the island’s rocky slopes. Today, your skipper will transport you out for a 3-hour landing on the big island, where you can follow in the footsteps of these 7th-century Irish monks to their dramatic island retreat. The small Skellig is equally renowned as a home to 27,000 pairs of gannets, the second-largest colony in the world. The islands have famously been used as a filming location for the 2015 and 2017 Star Wars movies.
