Day by Day

Day 1 - Tuesday 22nd October - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Wednesday 23rd October - Bonny Loch Lomond

Head out of the city today with your driver guide to explore the Bonny Banks of Loch Lomond.  Your first stop will be at a local falconry centre where you can experience the thrill of the Birds of Prey majestically soaring through the skies before landing on your outstretched hand.  Learn more about these creatures that Scotland is famous for before spending some time enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

Later on, you’ll take to the skies in a sea plane to take a tour of the loch from above.  Gaze down in wonder as you pass over the many islands of the loch and hear stories of their inhabitants and some of the Scottish folklore associated with them.

Your guide will return you back to your hotel this evening after a fantastic day out in the Scottish countryside.

Day 3 - Thursday 24th October - Exploring Glasgow

It’s a slightly earlier start today as you head to Kevingrove – one of the best museums in the city – for a pre opening private tour with the curator.  Open since 1901, it is a firm favourite with visitors to Scotland with 22 galleries to explore under your own steam with your expert guide.

After immersing yourselves in the art and culture of Scotland, you’ll spend the rest of the day exploring Scotland’s second city.  From the street art that adorns the sides of many buildings to the West End and it’s trendy vibe – there is so much to discover and your guide will bring everything to life with stories of the city, the culture and the history that spans from the industrial age right up to the present day.

Day 4 - Friday 25th October - To the Highlands

Head away from the bright lights of the city this morning towards the towering peaks and shimmering lochs of the largest national park in the UK. On the way you will stop off at Stirling Castle, where you will be an expert guide and take a tour of one of the most important castles in the land.  Learn about the battles that were fought and won just a stones throw away from this towering fortress, the marks that have been left on the building by various Kings and Queens of Scotland and the history of the country dating back for centuries.

After an immersive morning, continue north to your boutique hotel in the heart of a sleeping village which is home to an incredible art collection.  Take a tour of the art around the hotel before settling into your suite for the next three nights.

Day 5 - Saturday 26th October - The Elixer of Life

After a busy few days, you can have a more relaxed start to today and perhaps enjoy a spa treatment before setting out with your guide to explore the area.  Maybe take a walk around the village and to the Royal Highland Games Ground where you can learn more about the famous games that happen every year and are a huge part of the cultural in villages up and down the length and breadth of the country.

Later on, you will head to a local distillery, where you will take a private tour of the famous golden nectar which is one of the only distilleries in Scotland with a Royal seal of approval!  Taste a few of their delicious whiskies and maybe even take some home with you to remind you of your Scottish adventure.

Day 6 - Sunday 27th October - Exploring the Highlands

Spend the day with a true local today as you set out in his Land Rover to explore the area.  Your expert guide was once the factor at Invercauld Estate and as a result has a huge number of stories about the area and the people.  Enjoy exploring the area with him before settling down at one of HRH Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mothers favourite picnic spots.  Enjoy some delicious local dishes and perhaps a wee dram as you soak in the atmosphere and the fantastic views before returning to the hotel for the evening.

Day 7 - Monday 28th October - To Edinburgh

It is time to head to the bright lights of the Capital city today for the final stop on your Scottish Adventure.  Leaving the mountains behind your first stop will be the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother where you will take a private tour of places not usually visited by the general public.  Enjoy some delicious shortbread and an expert tour, delving into the stories of the past before continuing onto Edinburgh and your iconic hotel with incredible views over the Old Town.

After freshening up, you will head out this evening for a post opening tour of the Palace of Holyrood, The King’s residence when he visits Scotland.  Go behind the ropes as you explore the apartments and state rooms of this beautiful palace before enjoying a glass of champagne after the tour.  A great way to start your time in Edinburgh.

Day 8 - Tuesday 29th October - Exploring Edinburgh

Spend the day with an expert guide today, getting off the beaten track and discovering parts of the city that are only known to the locals.  Learn about the difference between the Old and New Towns, the folklore of Greyfriars Bobby and the way people used to live in this city centuries ago.  The day will be tailored to suit you and your guide will make sure you make the most of your time in the city.

Later on, you will head to the waters of Leith for a private behind the ropes tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia.  Sit on the very sofa where HRH The Queen used to take afternoon tea, explore the bedrooms and state rooms on this floating palace and understand why this ship was so beloved by all members of the Royal Family.

Day 9 - Wednesday 30th October - National Gallery, Tartan and Stately Homes

It is a slightly earlier start today as you set off for a private pre opening tour of the National Gallery this morning.  Meet the curator for a tour of the galleries and their treasures.  Hear stories of how the collections came to be and spend time immersing yourselves in all they have to offer.  This experience can be tailored to your specific requests so you can spend time just immersing yourselves in the art works of your choice.

After a wonderful morning, you’ll head to a stately home to meet with Lord Bruce, whose family has lived at Broomhall House for centuries.  Enjoy a private tour of the house hosted by Lord Bruce and hear stories of the history of Scotland and the battles that his family were involved with.

For your final stop today, you will head to meet a local weaver at their beautiful workshop and learn about the art of tartan making.  From choosing the designs to the pleating and stitching – watch in wonder as a keepsake is made before your very eyes, and you’ll have the option to make something as well!  A fantastic way to end your time in Scotland.

Day 10 - Thursday 31st October - Depart

A private transfer will collect you from your accommodation and take you to the airport to make your onward connections. Waving farewell for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.
