Day by Day

Day 1 - Thursday 29th August - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at Edinburgh airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Friday 30th August - Exploring Edinburgh and the art of Kilt Making

For your first full day in the Scottish capital visit Edinburgh’s most charismatic kilt-maker to learn all about the history of this revered art. This afternoon have time to explore the city with your expert guide, the day will be customised to your interests. This evening, discover the hidden dwellings of the Real Mary King’s close on a private guided tour and learn how the locals used to live and work in these underground alleyways.

Day 3 - Saturday 31st August - Explore St Andrews and Visit a local Whisky Distillery

This morning your guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the St Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife. Enjoy exploring this characterful university town, full of history and stories. More recently the Prince and Princess of Wales famously met during their studies here. St Andrews is also well known for being the ‘birthplace of golf’ and ‘The Old Course’, take a walk along the east sands and the edge of the course. Whilst in the area we visit a distillery which sits in a charming 18th century converted farm steading located close by to St Andrews. Your guide will explain how we make our spirit inside the distillery and then take you into a tasting room for an in-depth tutored tasting of our award-winning single malt ‘Dream to Dram’ and a selection of Kingsbarns single malt whiskies.

Day 4 - Sunday 1st September - Exploring Edinburgh

It’s an early start this morning as you head to the top of the Royal Mile for a pre opening tour of Edinburgh Castle. Walk through the hallowed halls and explore areas that are not usually open to the public. See the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny. Once suitably refreshed you can discover Edinburgh at your own pace with your guide or enjoy some free time for shopping on the famous thoroughfare of the Royal Mile. Late morning we meet with local chef,  for a private Scottish cooking class – learn and enjoy authentic Scottish food – a truly unique dining experience. After a rewarding lunch continue explorations of the city at your own pace, visiting art galleries, or relaxing at the hotel, as you prefer.

Day 5 - Monday 2nd September - Visiting a Scottish Family Farm

Today your guide will meet you at your hotel and journey with you to visit a traditional Scottish farm. Enjoy meeting the local farmer and gaining an insight into what daily life looks like in rural Scotland. Meet the farm’s friendly herd of sheep and tame lambs and other animals on the farm. Your visit will be tailored to your family. Later, perhaps set out to explore a local castle or abbey, before returning back to your hotel for your final trip evening.

Day 6 - Tuesday 3rd September - Depart Edinburgh

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in time for your departing flight, homeward bound.
