Day by Day

Day 1 - Sunday 29th September - Arrive in Scotland

Arriving at Inverness Airport this morning you will be met by your driver guide. Journey to the Isle of Skye, the jewel of the Inner Hebrides. Delight in the fabulous scenery as you make your way to the west coast, passing the deep waters of Loch Ness and through steep sided mountain glens on the way. Stop to visit the magnificent ruins of Urquhart Castle, situated on the loch shores. This was once one of Scotland’s largest castles and due to its strategic position, it played a key role during the Wars of Independence. Continue onwards, passing over the graceful arc of the Skye Bridge onto ‘the misty isle’ itself before reaching your lovely hotel which enjoys views over the harbour town of Portree.

Day 2 - Monday 30th September - Explore the Fabled Isle

Enjoy a pleasant boat trip, which takes you out of Portree harbour to explore the intricate coastline of the Sound of Raasay. Look out for sea eagles, dolphins, seals and even whales, as well as the lively seabird communities, while taking in the beautiful scenery too! This afternoon, your guide will be on hand to take you to visit the many wonders of Skye, and there is much here to choose from. Your guide will be able to discuss options to suit you, whether you would prefer to hike the dramatic and geologically varied landscapes, or perhaps explore Skye’s cultural heritage, discovering hidden traces that remain from its rich and turbulent past, the choice is yours.

Day 3 - Tuesday 1st October - The West Highlands

This morning board your ferry as you leave Skye by way of the sea and arrive back to the mainland. Arriving in Mallaig drive take the short drive to the silver sand beaches. Rain or shine this coastline provides something special, from the glistening waters reflecting the rays of the sun, to the atmospheric crash of the waves on the rugged rock formations. Spend time here as you wish, before driving onwards to view the spectacular Glenfinnan Monument and viaduct overhead. Your luxury castle accommodation awaits you for the night, located on the outskirts of the highland town of Fort William.

Day 4 - Wednesday 2nd October - History and Heritage

Today, leave the highlands behind as you travel south along the shores of Loch Lomond, to the city of Stirling. Discover the history and significance this location has played in Scotland’s past. Stroll the corridors inside the impressive Stirling Castle, perched high on the cliff side, dominating the landscape. Afterwards perhaps visit the Wallace Monument, which celebrates Scotland’s first national hero, William Wallace. Admire the huge Wallace Sword and climb the steps to gain the beautiful vista of the surrounding hills. This evening, your guide will depart, leaving you to settle in and make the most of your lavish city centre accommodation.

Day 5 - Thursday 3rd October - City Highlights

After breakfast, meet your expert city  guide in the foyer of your hotel and head out for a day spent exploring the beautiful cobblestone streets. Full of history, the capital is very accessible by foot. Wander up the Royal Mile, stopping to visit the architecturally stunning St Giles Cathedral, explore the magical Edinburgh Castle with panoramic views over the rest of the city. This afternoon is at your leisure, perhaps head to the Surgeons’ Hall Museums, which holds one of the largest collections of surgical pathology in the world. Tonight is your final night in the city, spend time dinning at one of the many unique eateries under the twinkling lights.

Day 6 - Friday 4th October - Depart
