Day by Day

Day 1 - Céad míle fáilte - One Hundred Thousand Welcomes

Céad míle fáilte – or one hundred thousand welcomes – to Ireland’s capital, Dublin! Upon arrival, a private transfer will provide a smooth journey into the city and onwards to the hotel. There is no better introduction to Dublin than a private walking tour with a local guide so after a bite to eat head out to see the best of the city. Your guide is also a historian who will share the stories, characters, and events that have shaped Dublin through the centuries.

Overnight: Dublin 2 | The Mont Hotel
Room Type: Comfy Double/ Twin

Day 2 - Hiking Glendalough & Private Wine Tasting Experience

This morning, after a brief introduction with your Wilderness Guide you’ll head for Glendalough, in the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Full of emerald hills topped with purple heather and framed by lush forests, Wicklow is a special place. In the 6th century, the monk St Kevin sought solace and contemplation. He found it here in the idyllic surroundings of Glendalough’s lakes and valley. Today’s hike explores the quiet hills beyond Glendalough’s ancient monastery and follows the Glenealo River through a stunning glaciated valley.

On your way back to Dublin, you’ll stop for a behind-the-scenes tour of a small, working winery in Wicklow that specialises in award-winning Irish Strawberry, Blackberry, and Raspberry Wines.

Overnight: Dublin 2 | The Mont Hotel
Room Type: Comfy Double/ Twin

Day 3 - The Hill of Tara & The Cliffs of Moher

Today you’ll begin your journey to Ireland’s stunning West Coast – but not before a stop at the lesser-known Hill of Tara. Once the ancient seat of the High Kings of Ireland, the Hill of Tara is steeped in myth and legend. This sacred site, with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, was long considered the spiritual and political heart of ancient Ireland. As you explore the landscape, you’ll encounter the famed fairy tree—a solitary hawthorn adorned with ribbons, notes, and small offerings left by visitors. Deeply rooted in Irish folklore, the tree is believed to be a portal to the Otherworld and a place where heartfelt wishes may be granted.

From there, you’ll continue westward to County Clare for a visit to one of Ireland’s most iconic natural wonders—the Cliffs of Moher. Rising dramatically from the Atlantic Ocean to heights of over 700 feet, these majestic sea cliffs stretch for nearly nine miles along the rugged coastline. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Aran Islands and the mountains of Connemara. Whether you’re taking in the view from O’Brien’s Tower or walking the cliffside trail, the raw beauty and power of the landscape are truly unforgettable. The Cliffs are also a haven for seabirds, including puffins, making it a paradise for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Overnight: Doolin | Doolin Inn
Room Type: Deluxe twin/double
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 4 - Journey to the Aran Islands

It’s hard to resist the allure of one of the many islands that dot the Irish coastline and today you and your guide will take to the water and ferry to The Aran Islands. The history of these islands goes back millennia and today Gaelic is still the daily spoken language of the inhabitants. The Aran islands seem to defy their size by all they have to offer: breathtaking scenery, mediaeval castles, cliffs and prehistoric forts are all to be found on this little group of islands.

Inis Mór, the largest of the three islands, is your destination today. The first port of call is a goat farm, here Gabriel, fisherman-come-goat farmer and island native will introduce you to his flock of extraordinarily cute goats. You’ll taste his award-winning cheese, but more importantly, you will leave with his wealth of knowledge on the island’s history, language and culture on this private experience. We will make sure you don’t miss the incredible prehistoric cliff top fortress at Dun Aenghus as well as some hidden spots along the island’s shore.

Overnight: Doolin | Doolin Inn
Room Type: Deluxe twin/double

Day 5 - Historic Galway

This morning, we bid farewell to the charming village of Doolin and make our way to Galway, the cultural heart and capital of Ireland’s wild west. Known as the ‘City of the Tribes,’ Galway is a vibrant blend of medieval history and modern energy. Its compact centre, with winding cobblestone streets and colourful shopfronts, pulses with street music, artisan cafes, and local spirit. At the city’s main square, a local military historian will meet you for a fascinating walking tour through Galway’s hidden alleys and historic sites. Along the way, you’ll uncover the city’s pivotal roles in global power struggles—from the clashes of the French, Spanish, Russian, and British empires to its involvement in Ireland’s path to independence between 1700 and 1922.

This afternoon, your journey continues west into the heart of Connemara, where you’ll check into the spectacular Ballynahinch Castle- a true hidden gem nestled in a 700-acre private estate of woodland, rivers, and mountains. Overlooking the serene Owenmore River, this elegant 18th-century manor blends historic charm with luxurious comfort. More than just a place to rest, Ballynahinch is an experience: cast a line in its world-renowned salmon fishery, wander tranquil forest trails, or simply relax fireside in the atmospheric drawing room. With its storybook setting and warm hospitality, the castle promises an unforgettable stay in one of Ireland’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Day 6 - Stories and Sheepdogs

This morning, enjoy a visit to a working sheep farm. While you watch the brilliant sheepdogs work the flock, chat to the local farmer about a life spent on the rugged west coast.

The hills and mountains of Connemara are defined by the ocean surrounding them, and this is particularly evident at the beautiful Killary Fjord. This afternoon your guide will lead you along the shores of the fjord, delving into Irish history at a famine-era abandoned village and bringing to life the rich and ancient histories of the landscape.

After an unforgettable journey through Ireland’s wild beauty, it’s time to bid a fond farewell to your Wilderness Ireland guide as they drop you back at your hotel. But the magic doesn’t end there—cap off your evening with the lively sounds of traditional Irish music, right on the hotel grounds. Let the rhythm of fiddles, flutes, and bodhráns carry you into the night, a perfect final note to your Irish adventure.

Your first stop is the magnificent Scone Palace, a place deeply entwined with Scotland’s royal history, where generations of kings — including Macbeth and Robert the Bruce — were crowned upon the Stone of Destiny. Explore the opulent rooms, filled with fine antiques and rich stories, and wander the palace’s beautiful gardens where peacocks stroll across the lawns.

This afternoon, continue your scenic drive into the Highlands, passing through charming villages and forests as the landscape grows ever more dramatic. In the afternoon, enjoy a special private experience at a local farm, where you’ll meet Scotland’s beloved Highland cows along with a friendly herd of goats. This magical site is still shrouded in mystery, with whispers of its connections to ancient rituals and folklore.

From here, continue to the evocative battlefield of Culloden, where the echoes of the 1746 battle between the Jacobites and the British forces still linger in the air. Walk the windswept moor, reflecting on the intense history and poignant stories of loss and defiance. As you journey south along the shores of Loch Ness, pause in the picturesque village of Fort Augustus. As you leave the centre, take in the incredible views before continuing your adventure with a gondola ride up the mountain, offering sweeping vistas across the rugged Highlands.

In the afternoon, choose to explore further on foot with a scenic walk through the glen or take a peaceful boat trip, with the tranquil waters reflecting the towering mountains surrounding it.
