Overview
Embark on a green grade hiking adventure through the scenic wonders of Donegal, featuring the majestic Slieve League cliffs and the serene Glenveagh National Park, before journeying onward to the iconic Giant’s Causeway. This trip begins and concludes in Dublin, with one night in the vibrant city. In addition to invigorating hikes, you’ll enjoy cultural visits to premier destinations and most meals, making this a well-rounded and enriching experience.
Day by Day
Day 1 - Welcome to Dublin's fair city
You will be greeted at the yellow sculpture in the Terminal 2 arrival hall in Dublin Airport at 7:00, 10:00 or 12:00 and a private transfer will take you to your Dublin hotel.
You will have some free time before meeting your Guides around 14:30pm at your hotel for an initial introduction, followed by a city walking tour.
You’ll explore Dublin’s historic streets, taking in the stunning architecture, visiting famous landmarks, and discovering hidden gems. Along the way, the guide will share fascinating stories and insights about the city’s past and present, giving you a deeper understanding of Dublin’s unique character and charm. Return to your hotel to finalise check-in and prepare for dinner.
At approximately 19:00, your guide will meet you once again at the hotel, and together you’ll head to a local Dublin restaurant. Here, over a welcome drink and dinner, you’ll get to know your fellow travellers and the guide who will accompany you throughout the week.

Day 2 - Donegal and Devinish Island
Today we leave Dublin at approximately 09:00 and transfer to Donegal via the picturesque town of Enniskillen.
Upon arrival in Enniskillen, enjoy a traditional pub lunch, indulging in hearty local cuisine and perhaps enjoying a pint of the finest black stuff. After lunch, embark on a scenic boat ride to Devenish Island. The island is home to a historic monastic site dating back to the 6th century, featuring well-preserved ruins such as a round tower, a church, and intricately carved stone crosses. Explore the island’s rich history, stroll through the tranquil surroundings, and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of this unique heritage site before continuing your journey to Donegal.
After settling into your hotel, the group will reconvene around 19:00 for a relaxed dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 3 - Slieve League and Glencolumbkille
Today we will depart around 09:00 to visit the stunning Slieve League cliffs, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Marvel at the sheer scale and natural beauty of these dramatic cliffs and the rugged coastline.
From here we will continue our adventure with a hike at Glencolumbkille, a picturesque village nestled in a remote valley. The hike will take you through some of Ireland’s most beautiful landscapes, with rolling hills, lush greenery, and ancient stone structures dotting the path. Enjoy the fresh air and the sense of tranquility that surrounds you in this unspoiled region. We will enjoy a packed lunch along the trail.
After the hike around 15:00, visit the Glencolumbkille Folk Village, an open-air museum that offers a glimpse into the traditional way of life in rural Ireland. Explore the meticulously reconstructed cottages, each representing a different period in Irish history, and learn about the customs, crafts, and daily activities of the local people. The village provides a fascinating insight into Ireland’s rich cultural heritage and allows you to step back in time and experience the simplicity and charm of rural Irish life.
Dinner will be at your leisure this evening in Donegal Town.

Day 4 - Hike Glenveagh National Park
Depart at 09:00 and transfer to Glenveagh National Park. Hike through the stunning expanse of pristine wilderness featuring rugged mountains, serene lakes, and dense woodlands. As you traverse the park’s well-maintained trails, immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of the surroundings, spotting local wildlife and enjoying panoramic views.
After your invigorating hike, indulge in a delightful packed lunch before visiting the historic Glenveagh Castle, nestled within the heart of the park. This 19th-century castellated mansion offers a glimpse into Ireland’s rich history and opulent past. Wander the castle, exploring its beautifully furnished rooms, grand halls, and lush gardens.
Conclude your visit with a delightful break at the castle tearoom. Indulge in a traditional Irish treat of tea and scones, complete with clotted cream and homemade jam. Relax in the charming atmosphere of the tearoom, enjoying the warmth and hospitality as you reflect on the day’s adventures in this picturesque setting.
After settling into your hotel in Dunfanaghy this evening, the group will meet around 19:00 for dinner in your hotel.

Day 5 - Horn Head
After a short transfer at approximately 09:00am we will embark on a scenic hike along Horn Head, a rugged peninsula that juts into the Atlantic Ocean near Dunfanaghy in County Donegal. As you traverse the coastal paths, you’ll be treated to stunning vistas of towering cliffs, sweeping sandy beaches, and the azure waters below. Keep an eye out for seabirds wheeling overhead and seals basking on the rocks along the shoreline. We’ll pause along the way to enjoy a packed lunch in a scenic spot, taking in the views as we refuel.
After your invigorating hike, enjoy a leisurely afternoon at your own pace. You’ll have the evening free to explore Dunfanaghy and dine at a restaurant of your choice.

Day 6 - Inishowen Peninsula & Derry City
Departing at around 09:00 today, we will transfer to the stunning Inishowen Peninsula. We will stop along the way at Grianán of Aileach for the best views of the region. You’ll gaze out over the glistening waters of Lough Foyle and Lough Swilly, with the entire Inishowen Peninsula laid out before you. This ancient site has silently witnessed Ireland’s history for centuries. Around 10:45, we’ll continue along the peninsula, exploring Donegal’s sandy beaches, savouring fresh local seafood, and soaking up the invigorating sea breeze.
We will transfer to Derry City by 15:30 to enjoy a captivating walking tour along the historic Derry Walls, offering sweeping views of the city and the scenic River Foyle. Explore these well-preserved 17th-century fortifications and immerse yourself in the city’s rich heritage and storied past.
Dinner will be with your group at around 19:00 this evening at the hotel restaurant.

Day 7 - Causeway Coast and Giant's Causeway
Depart this morning and embark on a memorable hike along the Causeway Coast Way, a scenic trail that winds its way along Northern Ireland’s stunning coastline. As you hike, marvel at the dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and rocky coves that characterise this rugged coastline. Among the highlights is the Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where thousands of interlocking basalt columns stretch into the sea. Marvel at this natural wonder, shaped by ancient volcanic forces, and immerse yourself in the mystical legends that have surrounded it for centuries. We will stop for a packed lunch along the trail today.
End your adventure at Dunluce Castle, a medieval ruin perched high on cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean. Wander through its ancient halls, taking in the dramatic scenery and feeling the echoes of history that linger in the stone walls. From the wild beauty of the coastline to the storied past of the castle, this journey captures the essence of Northern Ireland’s natural and historical magnificence.
Enjoy a group dinner at approximately 19:00 at a local restaurant this evening.

Day 8 - Return to Dublin with a Stop in Historic Carlingford
Today, we will depart Antrim at around 09:00 and head back to Dublin for the trip finale. Along the way, we’ll stop in the historic town of Carlingford, a charming medieval village known for its fresh seafood, scenic views, and leprechaun folklore. You’ll have the opportunity to stroll through the town centre, exploring the medieval streets lined with colourful shops and pubs. At approximately 12:45 we will enjoy lunch in a local cafe in Carlingford before continuing to Dublin.
Upon arrival in Dublin at around 16:00, you’ll check in to your hotel, bid farewell to your guide, and relax before your onward journey tomorrow.

Day 9 - Farewell!
A private transfer will depart your hotel at 10:00, taking you to Dublin Airport and marking the end of a memorable journey.
