Day by Day

Day 1 - Friday 16th August - Welcome to the Cotswolds

Your private drivers will whisk you out of London this morning and you’ll head to the picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds, with its chocolate box villages and meandering streams.  On the way, you will stop off at a fantastic start to your countryside adventure where you will journey into a magical clearing for a once in a lifetime experience.  Step onto a private 87 acre woodland estate, which was previously owned by the heiress to The Savoy where you will start the experience with a juggling and circus workshop.  Learn the tricks of the trade as you throw the balls higher and higher under the canopy of trees – a skill you can wow your friends and family with back home.  Maybe learn how to walk the tightrope, spin plates, walk on stilts and the ever popular hula hoops!  After an exhilarating time for the whole family, you will be greeted by winners of Masterchef: The Professionals – who will cook you an incredible feast over an open fire.  Let you tastebuds tingle as these incredible chefs create a tantalising menu in front of your eyes as you sip some delicious mocktails.

Sated and satisfied, you will head north to your exclusive accommodation in the heart of the Cotswolds, where the staff will be waiting to make you comfortable and ensure a good nights sleep for everyone.

Day 2 - Saturday 17th August - Slow Down Time as a family

The Cotswolds are known for their chocolate box villages and beautiful countryside and today you will set out with your driver guides to explore some of these delightful places.  One option for today is to head to the nearby Chipping Norton which is hosting a quintessential Farmers market.  Showcasing lots of local produce from small, independent producers, this is a wonderful place to wander through the stalls and buying some tasty treats to take back to London with you.  Another option is to enjoy a short walk along the tree lined high street of Bourton-on-the-Water to the Model Village, where you can feel like giants parading over a small village that is built to one-ninth scale and is a replica of how Bourton-on-the-Water was back in the 1930s.

For those that are up for a bit more of an adrenaline adventure, you can take to two wheels with your knowledgeable and expert bike guide and take a tour of some of the other villages in the area including Upper and Lower Slaughter.  Feel the wind in your hair as you zip along the hedge-lined lanes and round the sweeping bends in a lovely loop ride right from your accommodation.

Whatever you decide, you’ll head back to the accommodation this afternoon to enjoy some garden sports of football, tennis or croquet – may the best team win!

Day 3 - Sunday 18th August - Exploring the ancient city of Bath

Bath is known for it’s incredible architecture and famous spa baths.  But today, you’ll head just outside of the city for a fun experience taking to the tiller of a narrowboat.  These majestic boats used to be used to transport goods along the canals of England but now are much more suited to sitting back and leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind.  Take turns steering the boat along the winding canal and enjoying some delicious tasty treats on board as your surrounded by the sound of bird song and the gentle lapping of the river against the hull.

After a fun morning, you can either head into the city to explore – perhaps taking a private tour up the 212 steps to the Abbey Clock Tower or head back towards your accommodation stopping off to enjoy a hike or to explore some of the wonderful chocolate box villages that the area is known for.

Day 4 - Monday 19th August - The Castles of the Cotswolds

After a long day yesterday, enjoy a relaxing morning at the house today.  For those that want to partake, a local pilates instructor will be on hand for some 1-2-1 classes to help rejuvenate energy and re centre yourselves.  The children can enjoy some lawn games should the weather be nice or or perhaps head to a nearby village to enjoy a private pottery class where they can learn how to throw a pot and make a wonderful souvenir to take home.

This afternoon, enjoy a private tour of one of the most important castles in England’s turbulent and changing past.  The only castle in England to have a Queen buried within the ground, Sudeley Castle has had Royal connections for over a thousand years.  Take a behind the scenes tour of the castle and meet Lady Ashcombe, who was the driving force in turning this family home into a place for the general public to visit back in 1969.  Hear the story of her life here, how the estate has changed over the years and the plans for the future.

For your final evening a special treat awaits – as you arrive back at the house you will be met by the sound of music and the dazzling lights of your very own show.  Let the actors immerse you in their performance as they transport you to a world of laughter and entertainment.  The show can continue around dinner and then can conclude once the children have gone to bed for the adults – perhaps with a who dunnit or a comedy that will have you laughing long after the actors have departed.  A fantastic way to end your time in the countryside.

Please note that the theatre experience is subject to availability and may need to be on a different day.

Day 5 - Tuesday 20th August - Steam Train and Ancient Legends then Return to London

It is time to leave the relaxing countryside retreat and head back to the bright lights of the city this morning, but before you do – one last experience awaits.  Step back in time as you board your private first class carriage on the Gloucester and Warwickshire Railway and sit back and watch the rolling hills and chocolate box villages roll past your window.  Scream in delight as the train thunders through tunnels and steams up hills before arriving at Cheltenham Race Course where you driver guides will be waiting for you.

Head back to London in the late morning or you can take a detour to Stonehenge for a visit to one of the most famous stone circles in Europe.  Here you will meet a private expert guide who will enthral you with tales of the myths and legends of why this stone circle is so famous and why they are here on this vast plain in the heart of Wiltshire.

From here, your private transfer drivers will collect you and take you on the final leg of your journey back to London – taking with you memories of a fantastic time with your family and leave you wanting to return for more another time.

Should you wish to enjoy a private tour of the Inner Circle at Stonehenge for just your family, we can arrange this for 0700-0900 today.  However, this would require you to leave Temple Guiting at 0500 so this may not be suitable for you.
