Day 1 - Friday 22nd August - Welcome Back to Scotland!

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to dive right into the Festival atmosphere.

Day 4 - Monday 25th August - Free Morning, Transfer To Glasgow Late Afternoon

Most of the day is free for you to keep enjoying the Edinburgh Festival today, then late afternoon a private driver will transfer you to Glasgow to settle into your hotel there.

Day 5 - Tuesday 26th August - Exploring Glasgow

This morning you will be met by an expert local city guide who will lead you on a fascinating private walking tour of some of the key highlights of ‘Scotland’s friendliest city’. Discover layers of history in the Cathedral and maze of the Necropolis, as well as varied and elegant architecture at every turn. Keep your eyes open for the vibrant street art too, it’s a flourishing and ever-changing theme of this bustling city.

Late afternoon meet your private guide who will be with you for your West Coast Explorations. Chat through the trip over a coffee before they leave you to enjoy the rest of your evening in this friendly city.

Day 6 - Wednesday 27th August - West Coast & Castles Calling!

This morning you head off to the West Coast with your guide, stepping back in time as you explore Inveraray Castle along the way. If you have time maybe take a short circular walk at the Crinan Canal, along the coast and then through the ancient Crinan Woods to discover wonderful sea views out to Jura and Islay. The canal is a scenic and lovely reminder of an age when travel was slower and the world was smaller. Then continue up the coast to your welcoming hotel.

Day 7 - Thursday 28th August - Oban & Kerrera

Spend some time exploring the bustling harbour town of Oban today, and take the short ferry ride over to Kerrera island for a relaxed scenic hike. Visit the ruined castle and hopefully manage to stop in the charming tea room for a well-earned treat before returning to the mainland. If the timings work out then maybe take a tour of Oban Distillery this afternoon, it prides itself on being older than the town itself!

Day 8 - Friday 29th August - The 'Bridge Over The Atlantic' & Unique Islands

Today you can explore the tiny island of Seil, attached to the mainland by the shortest bridge over the Atlantic. Take the small foot passenger ferry to the neighbouring island of Easdale, once littered with slate mines the tiny island now has a unique geology and community that are still shaped by its mining past. If the tides are right then jump aboard the RIB boat ride out to see the amazing whirlpools, and hopefully see some local wildlife popping out to say hello too.

Day 9 - Saturday 30th August - Ferry To Mull & Settle In

From Oban a morning ferry will take you over to the Isle of Mull where you have most of the day to explore places like Duart Castle, before settling in to your sea view cottage, home for the next 4 nights.

Your guide will ensure that you have what you need for breakfast & snacks, but there is a small local shop just 10 minutes walk away. The village also has a small pub, so you may want to head out once you have soaked in the lovely views. The choice is yours.

Day 10 - Sunday 31st August - Exploring Isle of Iona

Take the tiny passenger ferry over to the Isle of Iona today to explore with your guide. This spiritual island is where the monk Columba landed after traveling over from Ireland. He founded a monastery in 563 that played a crucial role in converting the Picts of Scotland to Christianity. Today we’ll visit this monastery, called Iona Abbey as well as the Nunnery and St.Oran’s Chapel which is thought to be the final resting place of 48 kings of Scotland.

Day 13 - Wednesday 3rd September - Ardnamurchan Penninsula

Take the short ferry from Tobermory to Ardnamurchan Penninsula, Explore Lochaline & visit the most westerly point of the UK Mainland, complete with a lighthouse. Take a unique distillery tour which celebrates the local landscape. Discover some fabulous and little-visited landscapes, this is a true hidden gem.

Day 14 - Thursday 4th September - Jacobite Express & Afternoon Kayaking

A short drive to Fort William this morning will see you ready to step about the magical Jacobite Steam Train to puff your way towards Mallaig. Enjoy the scenic ride and the swooping curve of the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

Your guide will meet you in Mallaig and after a quick bagged lunch you will get to enjoy sea kayaking in the Arisaig Skerries. This is a world class paddling location, and your qualified instructor will be delighted to share it with you. The local seals may even come out to say hello as you explore the white sand beaches and tiny rocky islands. A really special experience.

Day 15 - Friday 5th September - Glen Nevis, Steall Falls & Neptune's Staircase on the Way To Inverness

Explore the atmospheric Glen Nevis at the foot of the tallest mountain in Scotland with your guide this morning. Walk along the dramatic gorge to reach the secluded but impressive Steall Falls. There is a notorious wire bridge crossing the water nearby, but most people are content to admire it rather than use it!

Before you head north check out ‘Neptune’s Staircase’, a dramatic flight of 8 locks which is the longest in Britain, used to control the sheltered waters of the Caledonian Canal. Your guide will take you up to Inverness, passing the deep secretive waters of infamous Loch Ness, and will see you safely to your welcoming Inverness accommodation for a relaxing night before your Wilderness Scotland Skye adventure tomorrow.
