Day by Day

Day 1 - Sunday 22nd September - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Monday 23rd September - Guided Morning & Castle

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past. Your guide will leave you here so that you can spend as much time in the castle as you wish.

You then have a free afternoon to continue explorations at your own pace, pick up souvenirs or relax as you prefer.

Day 3 - Tuesday 24th September - Free day to Explore Edinburgh

Today is free to visit some of Edinburgh’s wonderful attractions independently; walk the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle, discover the Georgian opulence of the New Town or go aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, once the floating palace of Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh.

Edinburgh is a labyrinth of cobbled alleyways contrasted with Georgian townhouses and more modern architecture, as you explore deeper into this amazing city you will uncover it’s wonderful history and character.

Day 4 - Wednesday 25th September - Transfer to Loch Lomond & Stirling Castle

You will meet your main guide/driver this morning and head to the idillic shores of Loch Lomond, making a stop at the impressive Kelpies who stand at 100ft tall .  On the way you will make a stop at Stirling Castle, one of the grandest castles in Scotland with an imposing location that overlooks the city of Stirling.  As you wander the grand halls and battlements, hearing stories of the castle and its pivotal role in Scottish history you really feel the atmosphere of this incredible place.

As you make your way into the Trossachs National Park, often called the ‘Highlands in Miniature’, you will see the landscape change into rolling hills and tranquil lochs.  Perhaps stop at a scenic viewpoint to take in the wonderful views as you breath in the fresh Scottish air.

You will arrive at your luxury hotel on the stunning shores of Loch Lomond, where you are free to rest and relax for the evening or perhaps stroll along the water’s edge.

Day 5 - Thursday 26th September - Boat Cruise and Exploring

This morning take to the waters of Loch Lomond for a boat cruise exploring around some of the little islands in the loch as you hear the local history.  As you glide along the tranquil waters keep your eyes open for the local wildlife, including Ospreys, Red Deer and maybe something a bit more unusual.

Later, you have an endless choice of walks and hikes in the area.  Perhaps take a hike up Conic Hill, the summit views of the surrounding National Park stretch for miles and are well worth the effort.  If you feel like taking things a bit easier there are lovely short walks all around the area and your guide will be there to help you enjoy the best experience.

This evening is free for you to relax and enjoy, perhaps toast your Scottish adventures with the traditional ‘Slainte Mhath, or ‘Good Health’.

Day 6 - Friday 27th September - Inveraray Castle & Relaxation

Inveraray Castle, seat of the Clan Campbells is a striking Gothic Mansion set against a backdrop of Scotland’s rugged Highlands and yours to explore today.  First and foremost a family home, Inveraray Castle also boasts sixteen acres of formal lawns, flowerbeds, park and woodlands that are worth exploring whatever the time of year.

If you prefer, you can just relax and enjoy the wonderful facilities at the hotel including a luxurious spa, heated indoor and outdoor pool with views over the incredible countryside.

Day 7 - Saturday 28th September - Transfer to Fort William & Glencoe

As you make your way to Fort William, you will pass through the iconic Glencoe valley.  A valley of myths and legends, where you can feel the true essence of Scotland seeping from the well trodden trails and drifting down the towering peaks.  You can stop and enjoy a hike here and your guide will discuss options with you – from hidden valleys to secret glens, there are many choices where you can get off the beaten track and hear stories about the tragic past of this beautiful area.

Arrive at your unique hotel this evening to settle in and get ready for the next part of your adventure.

Day 8 - Sunday 29th September - Exploring the Nevis Range

Head up the Nevis gondola today, enjoying incredible panoramic views as you are lifted effortlessly up the slopes of Aonach Mor.  At the top, various walking trails and viewing platforms allow you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this place.

The rest of the day is free to explore this rugged landscape, perhaps explore the atmospheric Glen Nevis at the foot of the tallest mountain in Scotland. Walk along the dramatic gorge to reach the secluded but impressive Steall Falls. There is a notorious wire bridge crossing the water nearby, but most people are content to admire it rather than use it!

Day 9 - Monday 30th September - Road to the Isles

Today you’ll head to the iconic Isle of Skye, taking the famous ferry over the sea.  As you make your way to the Isle you will travel along the stunning Road to the Isles. This is frequently listed as one of the most beautiful drives in the world and it is easy to see why. Admire the silver sand beaches of Arisaig and the views into the distance of Skye and the small isles. Your guide will share the tales of the local area as you go, making the landscape come alive with characters and events from the past.

You will stop at iconic Arisaig and enjoy an afternoon sea kayaking on the incredibly calm, clear blue waters.  If you strike it lucky with the weather you might not believe you are in the north west of Scotland but rather a Caribbean beach!  As you glide along the costal bays keep a look out for the friendly seals and local seabirds.

Arrive at your lovely hotel for the evening to relax and reminisce about your incredible day.

Day 10 - Tuesday 1st October - Guided Explorations on the Isle of Skye

Today you have a full day to explore some of the special corners of this magical island with your guide. You will be spoilt for choice with fascinating history and dramatic landscape on offer, with unique hiking routes through stark and unusual rock formations and sweeping coast and mountain views to enjoy in almost every direction. This ‘misty isle’ is also home to so many curious stories and legends of fairies and islander culture, your guide will share some of the best hidden gems and personalise the day to your interests.

Day 11 - Wednesday 2nd October - Talisker Distillery & Dunvegan Castle

With incredible views over the Cuillin Hills, the Talisker Distillery sits on the shores of Loch Harport and is well worth a visit.  Enjoy an immersive experience, learning about the craft of whisky-making.  At the end of the tour discover the distinctive smoky and maritime flavour of this renowned single malt as you enjoy a tasting of the famous ‘Uisge Beatha’ or ‘Water of Life’.

This afternoon make your way to Dunvegan Castle, the only castle to have been occupied by the same family, the Macleod clan for 800 years.  Learn it’s legends and history as you wander around the beautiful surrounding gardens.  Depending on the time you may want to enjoy a short hike or a short boat ride to see the local friendly seal colony (weather & availability permitting).

Day 12 - Thursday 3rd October - Inverness & Historic Culloden

This morning head back to the mainland with your guide.

As you make your way to your next hotel, you will stop and explore the historic Culloden Battlefield, site of the last battle of the Jacobite rising in 1746.  Here you will take a tour of the battlefield and visitor centre before heading to the site of three Bronze Age burial chambers and standing stones known as Clava Cairns.  This site is exceptionally well preserved and a great example of prehistoric history in Scotland dating back over 4,000 years.

Head to your hotel to rest and relax this evening, perhaps enjoy a warming dram in the cosy library bar.

Day 13 - Friday 4th October - Wildlife Rib & Exploring

This morning head over to the beautiful Black Isle to enjoy an exhilarating Rib boat trip, in search of the local wildlife.  Seals and seabirds are almost guaranteed, but you may be lucky enough to catch a sighting of a friendly dolphin!

After your wonderful Rib boat experience perhaps head back to Inverness to discover the capital of the Highlands, with its lovely eateries, unique book shop and incredible history it is worth taking some time to explore.  If you don’t want to head back the city just yet, perhaps explore the small costal villages en-route and take a short walk to the lovely fairy glen falls.

Day 14 - Saturday 5th October - Loch Ness & Urquhuart Castle

Today you will visit the iconic ruins of Urquhart Castle. Perched on the shores of Loch Ness, the castle offers a glimpse into a bygone era of conflict, clans and legends. As you explore the ramparts and peer through the weathered windows, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views over Loch Ness, its serene waters shrouded in legendary tales. Your adventure will continue as you take a wonderful cruise across the Loch in search of the fabled Nessie.

Return to your hotel for a warming drink, with memories of an unforgettable adventure.

Day 15 - Sunday 6th October - Transfer to Gleneagles & Sheepdog Experience

Today you will make your way to the beautiful Gleneagles Hotel.  Before you arrive, you will enjoy a delightful sheepdog experience.  Showcasing the remarkable skills and intelligence of Boarder Collies, enjoy a fascinating glimpse into traditional Scottish farming as they expertly herd the sheep across the picturesque Highland landscape.

Arrive at your luxurious hotel and relax for the evening.

Day 16 - Monday 7th October - Relax & Enjoy Gleneagles

You are free to choose your activity today, if you are feeling energetic perhaps head out on one of the hotels guided walks or hire a bike and explore the surrounding area.  If your energy levels are lower why not head to the incredible spa to enjoy the world class facilities.  There are so many options to choose from, whatever you decide to do you will enjoy your day in this wonderful part of the country.

This evening why not raise a toast to your Scottish Adventure in one of the hotel’s sumptuous bars.

Day 17 - Tuesday 8th October - Depart
