Overview

Picturesque coastal towns and villages, green pastoral fields, soaring cliffs, wild, barren landscapes, the crash of the ocean, the laugh of a local. Ireland is romantic and authentic, a home away from home where both old and modern seem to cohabit seamlessly on a small island in the middle of the sea. Packed with history and tradition, your days are spent exploring the island of Ireland’s famous and off-the-beaten-track sites of natural, cultural and political interest. A world-renowned food scene means your evenings are spent dining in style, and with the promise of a pub just around the corner, music and laughter are never far away. Your trip to Ireland will surprise and delight you, but the people of Ireland will stay with you long after your journey has taken you home.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Monday 14th July - Céad míle fáilte - One Hundred Thousand Welcomes

Céad míle fáilte – or one hundred thousand welcomes – to Ireland’s capital, Dublin! Upon arrival, a private transfer will provide a smooth journey into the city and onwards to the hotel. There is no better introduction to Dublin than a private walking tour with a local guide, so after a bite to eat, head out to see the best of the city. Your guide is also a historian who will share the stories, characters, and events that have shaped Dublin through the centuries.

Day 2 - Tuesday 15th July - Iconic Dublin

Kick off the morning with an unforgettable adventure on the River Liffey. After breakfast, meet an expert local guide for a thrilling couple of hours of kayaking through the heart of Dublin. Paddle past the city’s iconic landmarks and bridges, while enjoying live performances by Dublin’s musicians and artists beneath the famous Ha’penny Bridge. It’s a unique experience, offering a front-row seat to the magic of Ireland’s ‘Fair City,’ where history, culture, and music come together on the water. This evening, we indulge our senses in the world of Guinness with a visit to the Guinness Storehouse, tracing its roots back to its founding by Arthur Guinness in 1759. We enjoy a self-guided tour here before we sip a pint straight from the source at the renowned Gravity rooftop bar.

Day 3 - Wednesday 16th July - West Coast Adventures

This morning, we pick up our rental car and transfer west from Dublin to County Galway, home to the rugged and windswept Connemara region. En route, we can visit the ancient monastic site of Clonmacnoise, founded by St Ciarán in the 6th century. The peaceful setting, with its rich history and well-preserved ruins, offers a lovely pause before continuing the journey. The site features a cathedral, round towers, high crosses, and early Christian grave slabs, providing a glimpse into Ireland’s early Christian heritage. We check into our charming country hotel in time for a pre-dinner drink.

Room Type: x2 Junior Suites
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 4 - Thursday 17th July - Inishlacken Island Landing Tour

This morning, meet local fisherman Damien at Roundstone Harbour, a fourth-generation seafarer with a lifetime of experience. Explore Roundstone Bay by boat, keeping an eye out for resident seals, dolphins, and basking sharks. Pass the beautiful beaches of Ervallagh, Gurteen, and Dog’s Bay, heading towards the tranquil, deserted island of Inishlacken. Known for its stunning sands, crystal-clear waters, and panoramic views, Inishlacken offers the perfect spot for a bespoke picnic. Once a thriving community, the island is now home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, rabbits, and resident goats, sheep, and donkeys.

Day 5 - Friday 18th July - Galway City

Galway is the capital of Ireland’s west. Known as the ‘town of the tribes’, the small centre of cobblestone streets and colourful storefronts is vibrant, fun and cosmopolitan. A local historian meets us at the city’s main square to guide us through the bustling alleys, sharing Galway City’s important roles in the clash of the French, Spanish, Russian and British Empires from 1700 to 1922, including in Ireland’s revolution for independence. After lunch, use the quiet of the late afternoon to visit the famed Cliffs of Moher, and make sure to get that selfie for those at home! We continue through the rugged terrain of the Burren before settling in our cosy hotel.

Overnight: Ballyvaughan | Gregans Castle
Room Type: x1 Classic Double, x1 Classic Twin
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 6 - Saturday 19th July - 4x4 Experience on Inis Mor

Today, visit Inis Mór (Inishmore), the largest of the three Aran Islands. Enjoy exploring the island with the aid of off-road adventure vehicles driven by your local guides, Padraig and Aonghus. Learn about the unique Irish culture, traditions, and language of the islanders, the beautiful flora and fauna, and, of course, visit the filming site from the recent Banshees of Inisherin film. This experience is unique in that it provides the opportunity to visit parts of the island not readily accessible to those without both local knowledge and a 4×4 vehicle, making for a very memorable day.

Day 7 - Sunday 20th July - Drive to Killarney

This morning, we make our way further south to the Kingdom of Kerry. The drive is just under 3 hours, and there are a couple of scenic stops to break up the drive time. We stop at Dromoland Castle to meet some feathered friends on an exhilarating Hawk Walk. Watch as these magnificent birds of prey swoop and soar with breathtaking speed and learn all about their fascinating habits. Other stops along the way include Adare Village, popular for its thatched-roof cottages and yummy lunch spots, and one of Ireland’s best-kept secret beach walks along the coast. We arrive at our hotel in the late afternoon and have a chance to catch a trad session in Killarney town this evening.

Day 8 - Monday 21st July - Killarney National Park

Kerry is an expanse of rugged, mountainous country that sweeps down to the world-famous Lakes of Killarney. Here, stretching across 10,000 hectares, lies Killarney National Park, with its unforgettable combination of mountains, lakes, woodland and waterfalls. Historic manor houses and abbeys make for an interesting visit, but Killarney is best explored via a private boat trip with a Kerryman skipper who has been sailing these lakes since he was a child with his family. Cruise the tranquil lakes with one of the most spectacular backdrops imaginable as you are overlooked by Ireland’s highest mountain peaks.

Golf is synonymous with Ireland, as its coastal rolling sand dunes and coarse grass make for some of the world’s most renowned links courses. While two are enjoy the water, we have booked a tee time for two at Killarney Golf Club. Located in Killarney National Park, surrounded by the lakes of Lough Leane, it is a Six-Time Host Venue to the Irish Open and home to two 18-hole championship courses.
