Day by Day

Day 1 - Saturday 15th February - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Sunday 16th February - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past.

This afternoon your guide will take you up to the Scottish Genealogy Society to meet an expert researcher.  Enjoy a happy hour or two delving into the research which they have prepared on your family history for you, maybe discovering new facets to your ancestors characters or branches to your family tree.

Day 3 - Monday 17th February - Discover North Berwick

Walk in the footsteps of your ancestors as you discover the seaside town of North Berwick.  Explore this undiscovered area with your guide/driver, learning more of the history of this place and the people who live here.  Perhaps enjoy a warming coffee in one of the cosy cafes or explore the many shops in this quirky town.

There are plenty of other options to enjoy in this area, take a brisk walk along the coastline or perhaps visit Tantallon Castle, one of the best examples of architecture from the 1300’s anywhere in Scotland.

Journey back to the City and spend the evening relaxing at your hotel, perhaps a enjoy a warming dram in the comfortable lounge.

Day 4 - Tuesday 18th February - North to St Andrews & A Food Tour

Today you transfer North to the historic University town of St Andrews, in the Kingdom of Fife.  On the way meet your local guide and foodie expert for an incredible culinary tour.  The East Neuk and St Andrews area is famous for it’s array of fresh produce, artisanal cheeses and bakery treats.  Engage with passionate vendors eager to share their knowledge and expertise as you sample some of the best produce in the area.

Arriving at your luxury hotel, you are free to relax and settle in or enjoy a stroll around the historic streets of St Andrews.

Day 5 - Wednesday 19th February - Happy Anniversary! Explore St Andrews & Whisky Tasting

Explore the historic university town of St Andrews this morning with your guide. More recently the Prince & Princess of Wales famously met during their studies here but St Andrews is much better known for being the home of golf. You can feel the years of history in the streets and the soaring heights of the cathedral.

This afternoon enjoy a visit to the ‘spiritual home of Scotch Whisky’. Learn about the ancient heritage of Scotland’s modern distilleries and enjoy a wee dram and delicious chocolate pairing.  A wonderful way to celebrate your special Anniversary.

Day 6 - Thursday 20th February - Transfer to Perthshire & Scone Palace

As you travel into the region of Perthshire you will stop at the elegant Scone palace, once the crowning place of Scottish Kings and Queens.  At this time of year it is worth taking a stroll in the beautiful gardens, with the ancient stone walls standing stark against the winter chill and bare trees with a light frost covering, you will feel the history in this incredible landscape.

Spend your afternoon relaxing and unwinding at your lovely Castle Hotel.  Perhaps pamper yourself, making use of the wonderful spa facilities.

Day 7 - Friday 21st February - Fishing & Exploring Perthshire

Immerse yourself in the enchanting beauty of this area, starting with a morning fly fishing on a nearby river.  Guided by local experts you will cast your lines into the pristine waters, surrounded by the majestic Scottish Highlands.

This afternoon you can choose to explore the quaint village of Pitlochry, enjoy the many shops and cosy cafes as you wander the streets surrounded by ancient woodlands.  Or if you prefer, enjoy a crisp winter stroll around a nearby loch.  Enjoy the peace and tranquillity as you make your way through the winter woodlands surrounded by hills covered with a light dusting of snow.  Your guide will be on hand to help you make the best of the day.

Day 8 - Saturday 22nd February - Depart
