Day by Day

Day 1 - Friday 7th February - Céad míle fáilte

Céad míle fáilte – or one hundred thousand welcomes – to Ireland’s capital, Dublin! A private transfer will pick you up from the airport and whisk you into the city to your 5-star hotel. Check-in is at 3 pm however feel free to leave your bags, freshen up, or have a bite to eat. Head out in the afternoon to enjoy a walking tour that takes a comprehensive dive into the inspiring figures and events that make up the History of Ireland’s LGBT+ community. From rebels and revolutionaries to civil rights agitators, pride March pioneers and gender identity trailblazers; you’ll enjoy an exploratory celebration of Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community and the rich history of their story. There is much to be celebrated, and much to be commemorated.

Day 2 - Saturday 8th February - Ireland's Fair City

Today is open for you to explore more and Dublin is best explored on foot or using public transport such as the LUAS, our light rail system. Many of Dublin’s highlights are within walking distance and indeed you will discover it is in the act of wandering from one to another where you will soak up Dublin’s authentic atmosphere. Enjoy a local pub lunch and spend the rest of your afternoon taking in some of Dublin’s sights.

Day 3 - Sunday 9th February - The Wilds of Connemara

This morning, meet your private guide in the lobby of your hotel and after some short introductions, head west towards the wilds of Connemara. If you wish, take the time to walk along the banks of the River Shannon, a waterway that divides the East from the West and eventually empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Hear about the drowned goddess who gave the river its name, visit a monastic monument, and learn about Viking raids. Check into Ballynahinch Castle, once owned by an Indian Raj, this traditional hunting lodge has seen presidents and dignitaries grace its halls and rooms for generations. Today, surrounded by thousands of acres of estate land and forests, Ballynahinch boasts fine dining, a traditional pub, on-site fly fishing and a remote escape in the wilds of Connemara. Your guide will join you for dinner this evening as you raise a glass to your adventure ahead.

Day 4 - Monday 10th February - Inis Oirr Adventure

Connemara is home to the largest Gaeltacht (Irish Irish-speaking population) in Ireland, where an estimated 70% of the population speaks Irish as their first language daily. Oozing with culture and tradition, Connemara and the islands have a lot to offer. This morning you will meet local guide and Gaeilgeoir (Irish-speaker) Padraic to take a flight to Inis Oirr, the smallest of the three Aran Islands. Enjoy the commanding views of the islands, Galway Bay, and the Connemara coastline before stepping into the wilderness. You’ll visit the island Arts Centre where you will get a glimpse of the island’s history, culture, heritage, and traditions and finish up doing a craft workshop with Máirtín, a local islander and expert craftsman. A feast of local seafood will be served for lunch, including Aran Lobster, before you embark on a tour of the island visiting the Shipwreck, Underground Church, and the 15th century O Brien’s Castle perched on the highest point of the island. Head back to the mainland this evening just in time to freshen up and grab a bite to eat.

Day 5 - Tuesday 11th February - Sheepdogs & Stories in the West of Ireland

We take a drive through the windswept Twelve Bens Mountain Range to Killary, Ireland’s only fjord where we visit a local sheep farm for a private sheepdog demo in this wild and remote landscape. Watch the magnificent and intelligent collies work the sheep from mountainside to pen with only the calls and commands of its owner to follow. Enjoy some tea and cake with Tom the farmer and chat about rural life in Ireland. Later this afternoon, we walk an abandoned famine route along the southern shoreline of the fjord and your guide helps you understand the life of locals during this time, why emigration was the only survival option and just how cut off communities were.

Day 6 - Wednesday 12th February - Enjoying Ireland's West Coast

Today is for you to enjoy all that Ballynahinch Castle has to offer. There are a choice of unique activities such as hiking popular trails, relaxing in the Woodland Saunas, taking a fly fishing tutorial, biking, or simply sitting in the tranquillity of the grounds listening to the song of the river.

Day 7 - Thursday 13th February - Galway City

Today we leave behind the wilds of Connemara, making our way farther south to Clare. En route, we take the opportunity to stop in Galway City, a charming Medieval-era city with a thriving arts and food scene. Here you have time to explore and grab a spot of lunch with your guide. Later, it’s a short drive to your first hotel, Gregan’s Castle, a former retreat for poets and authors such as J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. You’ll be back in time for a cool pint of Guinness by the fire before a hosted dinner at its award-winning restaurant.

Day 8 - Friday 14th February - A Taste of The Burren

This morning we pay a visit to a charming, locally-owned Burren Beef farm for an immersive tour and tasting. As you enter the Burren landscape, you’ll quickly notice its otherworldly attributes. With endless lines of karst limestone rock dominating fields and covering hillsides, the area is said to have been an inspiration for JRR Tolkien’s world-famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. Learn a little about the traditional farming methods that help shape and conserve this unique landscape. Explore the original farmhouse and see how the Irish people used to live, survey the pre-famine settlement where inhabitants lived on the rockier ground and visit an ancient ring fort designed for defensive purposes enabling the Chieftain to guard his sheep. Before dinner this evening, join a local pub landlady with one of Ireland’s largest private whiskey collections for a unique tasting experience.

Day 9 - Saturday 15th February - Free time in Clare

Today is yours to explore the gardens, sit by the fire and relax at your 18th-century manor house.

Day 10 - Sunday 16th February - The Cliffs of Moher

This morning transfer around 30 minutes to the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most impressive natural sites. The area is teeming with wildlife and 20 different species of birds, including puffins, make this area their home. Here we hop on a zodiac for an up close and personal exploration of the Cliffs of Moher. Far from the tourist crowds, learn the mythology and wildlife of this iconic site. We finish in the village of Doolin, famous for its traditional music scene. Stop for a fish n’ chips lunch in a historic stone cottage and a chance to browse the quaint shops, before returning to Gregans’ Castle via Black Head, a mesmerizing stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop for photos en route. Your guide will join you for a farewell dinner tonight.

Day 11 - Monday 17th February - Depart
