Day by Day

Day 1 - Wednesday 9th July - Arrival in the Highlands

Arrive at Inverness Airport, where your journey through Scotland’s captivating landscapes begins. A private tour of Cawdor Castle, steeped in history and literary intrigue, sets the tone for your adventure. En route to the elegant Fife Arms, stretch your legs with a short scenic walk, immersing yourself in the Highland air. Then settle into the beautifully curated interiors at your hotel, blending Highland tradition with modern luxury and offering the perfect retreat after your journey into the Highlands.

Day 2 - Thursday 10th July - Unique Foodie & Whisky Workshop

Meet your guide this morning and then set out for a hike that takes you deep in the the whisky soaked hills of the eastern Cairngorms. Taking in the landscape still blooming with heather, head over a pass and into a wild glen before arriving at the remote croft of the charismatic writer, broadcaster, and ‘food anthropologist’ Ghillie Basan. Tucked away in this remote part of Scotland, you will discover a colourful and well stocked kitchen with inspiring views over the hills. Ghillie will guide you in cooking a delicious feast (including local ingredients foraged from the surrounding area) while you share stories and learn about the dishes you are creating.

Day 3 - Friday 11th July - Walking Through History

Head north this morning to visit Culloden Battlefield and its richly researched and engaging visitor centre. Learn about one of the most harrowing battles in Scottish history and walk across the rough moor where the Jacobites and the Government fought in 1746. Take the opportunity to visit Clava Cairns – a well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery complex of passage graves, ring cairns, kerb cairns and standing stones.  Counting on to Torridon you’ll pause in Strathpeffer, ones a wellness destination, Victorian’s from across Europe would travel here for the fresh Highland air and natural springs. Walk to the remains of an iron age fort on a small hill and enjoy a guided outdoor whisky tasting—a perfect blend of nature and Scotland’s liquid gold. Then continue on to your Highland hotel on the shores of Loch Torridon.

Day 4 - Saturday 12th July - Sea and Summit

Head out this morning to meet Ian, a local fisherman whose family has been fishing the west coast waters for over 200 years. With his deep knowledge and engaging personality, Ian will guide you through hauling your own catch and navigating the waters while sharing stories of the area’s maritime heritage. Back on shore, enjoy a beachside lunch, cooking your freshly caught seafood just meters from the fishing grounds. In the afternoon, set out on a guided hike into the Torridon hills with your guide, following scenic routes that winds through ancient rock formations. As you ascend one of the smaller peaks, your guide will share insights into the area’s history and geology. At the summit, take in sweeping views of Torridon’s dramatic peaks, shimmering lochs, and untamed beauty.

Day 5 - Sunday 13th July - Highlands to the Sea

Leaving Torridon travel through the wild landscape before reaching Loch Long. Here, you’ll head out for some sea kayaking, paddling through the serene waters, surrounded by towering hills, and gliding beneath the iconic bridges of Eilean Donan Castle. Your guide will lead you through the loch’s hidden coves and inlets, sharing stories of its history and wildlife as you go. Keep an eye out for seals and seabirds that call this tranquil stretch of water home. After this invigorating experience, continue to Glencoe to unwind and relax with views over the Glencoe mountains.

Day 6 - Monday 14th July - Hiking in Glencoe

Enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore Glencoe with your guide. This spectacular glen, carved out centuries ago by glaciers and volcanic eruptions, offers some wild and scenic hiking, and a tragic history that is only eclipsed by the area’s beauty. One great option is to hike along a narrow rowan-hung gorge until you reach the Lost Valley. This enclosed meadow – high, green, and hidden by precipitous tors, is said to be where the Macdonald clan used to conceal their rustled cattle. Surrounded by jagged peaks that shift in and out of mountain mist, it’s a short but spectacular hike, one of many you may choose. If there is time this afternoon you might want to visit the Glencoe Center to learn about the landscape’s haunting history. Your day will conclude with an evening at a local pub, soaking up the lively atmosphere and enjoying the sounds of traditional live music.

Day 7 - Tuesday 15th July - Isles of Mystery and Myth

Embark on a private boat trip to explore the secluded islands of Scotland’s west coast, including a journey around Lismore, where you’ll likely spot majestic eagles soaring above the rugged landscape. Continue to Eileach an Naoimh – Island of the Saints – home to the ruins of St. Brendan’s Monastery, one of the oldest monastic sites in Scotland. Accessible only by private boat, this remote island promises a peaceful and intimate experience, far from the crowds. It’s said to be the burial place of St. Columba’s mother, adding a touch of legend to its history. Pause in this serene setting for a gorgeous picnic, surrounded by the unspoiled beauty of the sea and sky. Return back to Glencoe this evening for a final dinner in the Highlands.

Day 8 - Wednesday 16th July - Journey to Glenapp Castle

Have a relaxed breakfast this morning, soaking up the views of the Highlands before travelling south to Glenapp Castle. Depending on time you may want to stop on the way to stretch your legs with a walk in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Arriving at Glenapp, your guide will leave you so you can continue your Scottish adventure regal style.
