Overview

Picturesque coastal towns and villages, green pastoral fields, soaring cliffs, wild barren landscapes, the crash of the ocean, the laugh of a local. Ireland is romantic, and authentic, a home away from home where both old and modern seem to cohabit seamlessly on a small island in the middle of the sea. Packed with history and tradition your days are spent exploring the island of Ireland’s famous and off-the-beaten-track sites of natural, cultural and political interest. A world-renowned food scene means your evenings are spent dining in style and with the promise of a pub just around the corner, music and laughter are never far away. Your trip to Ireland will surprise and delight you but the people of Ireland will stay with you, long after your journey has taken you home.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Wednesday 9th April - Céad míle fáilte

Céad míle fáilte, or one hundred thousand welcomes, to Ireland’s capital, Dublin! On arrival, you’ll be met by a private transfer who will whisk you directly to your city centre hotel. Take some time to settle in before joining a local historian for an engaging walking tour of the lively capital city. Explore some of Dublin’s best-known attractions, while also enjoying the benefit of local knowledge by visiting spots hidden off the tourist trail. Later this afternoon, enjoy some free time, before dining in the hotel’s Michelin-star restaurant or in one of the many delightful eateries that pepper the streets of this vibrant, capital city.

Overnight: Dublin | The FitzWilliam Hotel - Dublin
Room Type: x2 Deluxe Balcony

Day 2 - Thursday 10th April - Historic Dublin

This morning, you’ll make your way to 14 Henrietta Street, a social history museum of Dublin life, connecting the history of urban life over 300 years to the stories of the people who called this place home. Work began on the street in the 1720s when houses were built as homes for Dublin’s wealthiest families. By 1911 over 850 people lived on the street, over 100 of those in one house – 14 Henrietta Street. The rest of your day is open for you to explore more and Dublin is best explored on foot or using public transport such as the LUAS, our light rail system. This evening, head to the Abbey Theatre for a behind-the-scenes private tour.

Overnight: Dublin | The FitzWilliam Hotel - Dublin
Room Type: x2 Deluxe Balcony
Meals Included: Breakfast

Day 3 - Friday 11th April - Kilkenny Castle & Kenmare

Meeting your private guide in the lobby of your hotel, after some short introductions this morning you journey cross country, to the Kingdom of Kerry. You stop midway in Kilkenny on Ireland’s eastern seaboard and Europe’s centre for scholarly learning in the Middle Ages, as evidenced by the plethora of ancient monasteries, abbeys, and churches in this part of the country. Kilkenny’s centrepiece is the 11th-century castle – a centre for Norman rule that has survived centuries of invasion and turmoil. You will take a tour of the castle and enjoy some lunch before continuing south where, on the edge of the Ring of Kerry, Sheen Falls Lodge awaits.

Overnight: Kenmare | Sheen Falls Lodge
Room Type: x2 Estate Rooms
Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 4 - Saturday 12th April - Forage & Feast on The Beara Peninsula

Today you will head into the wilds of West Cork for a fully immersive experience in the sights, sounds, smells & tastes of a rare temperate rainforest valley & bay on the Wild Atlantic Way. Too often overlooked by visitors, the Beara Peninsula is a hidden paradise. At each turn, there is a new view to marvel upon, with panoramas over the hidden valleys, rocky slopes, sheep-dotted hills and far-away lakes. Make sure to leave room after breakfast this morning, as your experience of the day involves meeting local foraging expert Kloe to share in her craft on the remote southern edge of the Beara Peninsula. After an hour out in the field learning the science and practices of foraging in the woods, reconvene around a campfire together for a cooked lunch of your gathered goods.

Overnight: Kenmare | Sheen Falls Lodge

Day 5 - Sunday 13th April - Unwind and Explore

Today is for you to sit back and enjoy all of the activities Sheen Falls has to offer.  From traditional countryside activities like horse riding, fishing, falconry, and clay-pigeon shooting to more modern thrills like axe-throwing and archery, there’s no shortage of exciting options to make the most of your free time. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious beginner, you’ll find an array of activities to enjoy during your stay.  If you’d rather take a more relaxed approach, unwind with a good book and coffee in their cosy Library, take a peaceful stroll through the woodlands surrounding the estate, or indulge in some much-needed relaxation at their award-winning Easanna Wellness and Spa.

Day 6 - Monday 14th April - Killarney National Park

Saying goodbye to Kenmare this morning, we journey further north to Killarney National Park – the most famous of Ireland’s national parks – with good reason as it is flourishing with breathtaking mountains, lakes and waterfalls. Historic manor houses and abbeys make for an interesting visit but Killarney is best explored via a private boat trip across the lake with a boatman whose furry friends join him daily. After a bite to eat, we make our way to Dromoland Castle, a property that dates back to the 16th century and your home for the next three nights.

Overnight: Newmarket On Fergus | Dromoland Castle Hotel
Room Type: x2 Queen Ann Classic
Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 7 - Tuesday 15th April - Farm Tours & Famous Cliffs

This morning we pay a visit to a charming, locally-owned Burren farm for an immersive tour and tasting. As you enter the Burren landscape, you’ll quickly notice its otherworldly attributes. With endless lines of karst limestone rock dominating fields and covering hillsides, the area is said to have been an inspiration for JRR Tolkien’s world-famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. Learn a little about the traditional farming methods that help shape and conserve this unique landscape. Explore the original farmhouse and see how the Irish people used to live, survey the pre-famine settlement where inhabitants lived on rockier ground and visit an ancient ring fort designed for defensive purposes enabling the Chieftain to guard his sheep. Later you will head to the musical village of Doolin, where you’ll hop on a zodiac for an up close and personal exploration of the Cliffs of Moher. Far from the tourist crowds, learn the mythology and wildlife of this iconic site.

Day 8 - Wednesday 16th April - Falconry & Galway City

This morning, your private guide will take you to Galway City, a charming Medieval-era city with a thriving arts scene. This is a great place for a wander and some lunch, and your guide will take you to our favourite restaurant by the water.  Back at Dromoland, finish your time here by getting up close and personal with mesmerising falcons, hawks and owls on the castle grounds with a private Falconry experience.
