Overview

Picturesque coastal towns and villages, green pastoral fields, soaring cliffs, wild barren landscapes, the crash of the ocean, the laugh of a local. Ireland is romantic, and authentic, a home away from home where both old and modern seem to cohabit seamlessly on a small island in the middle of the sea. Packed with history and tradition your days are spent exploring the island of Ireland’s famous and off-the-beaten-track sites of natural, cultural and political interest. A world-renowned food scene means your evenings are spent dining in style and with the promise of a pub just around the corner, music and laughter are never far away. Your trip to Ireland will surprise and delight you but the people of Ireland will stay with you, long after your journey has taken you home. V2 13th Feb

Day 2 - Saturday 10th May - Historic Dublin

This morning, join a local historian for an engaging walking tour of the lively capital city. Explore some of Dublin’s best-known attractions, while also enjoying the benefit of local knowledge by visiting spots hidden off the tourist trail. After lunch, you’ll visit 14 Henrietta Street, a social history museum of Dublin life, connecting the history of urban life over 300 years to the stories of the people who called this place home. Work began on the street in the 1720s when houses were built as homes for Dublin’s wealthiest families. By 1911 over 850 people lived on the street, over 100 of those in one house – 14 Henrietta Street.

Day 3 - Sunday 11th May - Irish Dancing & Whiskey in Galway City

Meeting your private guide in the lobby of your hotel, after some short introductions this morning you journey cross country, to Galway, the capital of Ireland’s West. Galway is a charming Medieval-era city with a thriving arts scene and a great place for a wander. Once you’ve had the chance to check in and grab a bite to eat, you meet an expert whiskey guide who will lead you to some of the oldest pubs to discover the finest Irish whiskey. Tasting the Uisce Beatha will leave you in the mood for our next stop, where you gather in a cosy pub for a special performance of traditional Irish Dance and live music with talented dancers from “Lord of the Dance” and “Riverdance”. Learn basic steps and movements of Irish dance, have the craic, and come away with a newfound appreciation for Irish whiskey and culture.

Day 4 - Monday 12th May - Connemara Crystal & Free Time in Galway

This morning your guide will take you just outside the city, to a family-run crystal factory. Glass cutting in Ireland is part of a vibrant artistic tradition and you will have the chance today to meet the master glass cutter as they craft a personalised item for you. Back in the city in the late afternoon, you are free to explore as you wish. With its cobbled pavement and street performers, Galway is the West Coast’s most vibrant urban centre full of art and artisans, crafters and performers.

Day 5 - Tuesday 13th May - Farm Tours & Travelling South

This morning you journey south to the Kingdom of Kerry. We stop en route to pay a visit to a charming, locally-owned Burren farm for an immersive tour and tasting. As you enter the Burren landscape, you’ll quickly notice its otherworldly attributes. With endless lines of karst limestone rock dominating fields and covering hillsides, the area is said to have been an inspiration for JRR Tolkien’s world-famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. Learn a little about the traditional farming methods that help shape and conserve this unique landscape. Explore the original farmhouse and see how the Irish people used to live, survey the pre-famine settlement where inhabitants lived on rockier ground and visit an ancient ring fort designed for defensive purposes enabling the Chieftain to guard his sheep. Afterwards, continue south where, on the edge of the Ring of Kerry, Sheen Falls Lodge awaits.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious beginner, you’ll find an array of activities to enjoy during your stay.  If you’d rather take a more relaxed approach, unwind with a good book and coffee in their cosy Library, take a peaceful stroll through the woodlands surrounding the estate, or indulge in some much-needed relaxation at their award-winning Easanna Wellness and Spa.
