Overview

Picturesque coastal towns and villages, green pastoral fields, soaring cliffs, wild barren landscapes, the crash of the ocean, the laugh of a local. Ireland is romantic, and authentic, a home away from home where both old and modern seem to cohabit seamlessly on a small island in the middle of the sea. Packed with history and tradition your days are spent exploring the island of Ireland’s famous and off-the-beaten-track sites of natural, cultural and political interest. A world-renowned food scene means your evenings are spent dining in style and with the promise of a pub just around the corner, music and laughter are never far away. Your trip to Ireland will surprise and delight you but the people of Ireland will stay with you, long after your journey has taken you home. V2 13th Feb

The rest of your day is open for you to explore more and Dublin is best explored on foot or using public transport such as the LUAS, our light rail system. Day 2 - Saturday 10th May - Historic Dublin

This morning, you’ll visit 14 Henrietta Street, a social history museum of Dublin life, connecting the history of urban life over 300 years to the stories of the people who called this place home. Work began on the street in the 1720s when houses were built as homes for Dublin’s wealthiest families. By 1911 over 850 people lived on the street, over 100 of those in one house – 14 Henrietta Street. The rest of your day is free to explore Ireland’s capital city.

Day 3 - Sunday 11th May - Kilkenny Castle & Kenmare

Meeting your private guide in the lobby of your hotel, after some short introductions this morning you journey cross country, to the Kingdom of Kerry. You stop midway in Kilkenny on Ireland’s eastern seaboard and Europe’s centre for scholarly learning in the Middle Ages, as evidenced by the plethora of ancient monasteries, abbeys, and churches in this part of the country. Kilkenny’s centrepiece is the 11th-century castle – a centre for Norman rule that has survived centuries of invasion and turmoil. You will take a tour of the castle and enjoy some lunch before continuing south where, on the edge of the Ring of Kerry, The Park Kenmare awaits.

Today is for you to sit back and enjoy all of the activities The Park Kenmare has to offer.  From traditional countryside activities like falconry, and cycling to more modern thrills like tennis, there’s no shortage of exciting options to make the most of your free time. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious beginner, you’ll find an array of activities to enjoy during your stay.  If you’d rather take a more relaxed approach, take a peaceful stroll through the woodlands surrounding the estate, or indulge in some much-needed relaxation at their award-winning spa.

*Your guide will be on hand should you wish to explore the locality.

Spend the day enjoying your surroundings at Adare Manor partaking in some of the onsite leisure activities this luxurious hotel resort has to offer. The day is yours to indulge in some relaxation at the spa, perhaps go for a swim, take afternoon tea like the lords and ladies or indulge in an afternoon cocktail.  End your day by getting up close and personal with mesmerising falcons, hawks and owls on the castle grounds with a private Falconry experience.

Day 7 - Thursday 15th May - Farm Tours & Famous Cliffs

This morning we travel north to pay a visit to a charming, locally-owned Burren farm for an immersive tour and tasting. As you enter the Burren landscape, you’ll quickly notice its otherworldly attributes. With endless lines of karst limestone rock dominating fields and covering hillsides, the area is said to have been an inspiration for JRR Tolkien’s world-famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. Learn a little about the traditional farming methods that help shape and conserve this unique landscape. Explore the original farmhouse and see how the Irish people used to live, survey the pre-famine settlement where inhabitants lived on rockier ground and visit an ancient ring fort designed for defensive purposes enabling the Chieftain to guard his sheep. Later you will head to the musical village of Doolin, where you’ll hop on a zodiac for an up close and personal exploration of the Cliffs of Moher. Far from the tourist crowds, learn the mythology and wildlife of this iconic site.
