After breakfast head out to explore the city with a private guide this morning, focusing on the central highlights. As red buses and black cabs trundle around corners, hear about the turbulent history that stretches back over 2000 years. Explore Buckingham Palace, hopefully catching the changing of the guards complete with their beautiful horses. Then discover the tales of the unique Churchill War Rooms, where the war effort was plotted and fought.
At lunchtime your guide will depart, leaving you to enjoy a free afternoon exploring at your own pace. Perhaps take a relaxing walk through the deep greens of Hampstead Heath or thread your way through a vintage market full of hidden treasures – from velvet hats to crystal pendants. The choice is yours.

A private transfer will take you to London Euston Train Station to catch a Train north to Penrith in the Lake District, UNESCO World Heritage Site and Area of Outstanding Beauty. Here you will be met by your private Guide for the Lake District and start your explorations in the right way with a quintessential British Pub Lunch. Chat about the days ahead with your guide and hear about the local area before your afternoon explorations.
Board a historic steamship for a unique journey along Ullswater. It was after a walk along this part of Ullswater that William Wordsworth wrote his most famous poem, ‘Daffodils’, with the line “I wandered lonely as a cloud”. Who could help but be inspired by these wonderful views?
Maybe step ashore to take a gentle hike along the shores of the lake with your guide, or just enjoy the scenery and complete the full round trip. Once you finish back at your starting point your guide will take you to your luxurious hotel to settle in.

This morning join your guide to head into Grasmere, undoubtedly one of the prettiest villages in the Lakes. Enjoy a visit to Dove Cottage, where William Wordsworth lived with his sister Dorothy from 1799 to 1808. Step back in time as you explore the tranquil rooms, still full of the late poet’s possessions and imagine the inspirations captured here.
Afterwards, head out for a mellow circular walk, soaking up the stunning views that stretch across Rydal Water, Grasmere Lake and the steep surrounding fells. Arrive back in the village and spend some time strolling along the narrow streets, popping into artisan shops and perhaps picking up some famous Grasmere Gingerbread. Your guide will depart after dropping you back at your hotel, leaving you to enjoy a relaxing evening.

A private transfer will take you to Penrith Train Station to catch a direct train to Edinburgh this morning. On arrival in Scotland a private transfer will take you to your hotel to drop your bags. The rest of the day is free for you to start exploring.

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital as you wander up the ‘Royal Mile’ and through tiny alleys to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself.
Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past. Your guide will leave you here so that you can spend as much time in the castle as you wish. You then have a free afternoon to continue your explorations at your own pace, pick up souvenirs or relax as you prefer.

Today you will be collected from your accommodation by a private local guide and head to St Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife. Explore this characterful university town, full of history and stories and more recently the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge famously met during their studies here. However, St Andrews is much better known for being the ‘birthplace of golf’ and you will see ‘The Old Course’ with the wee bridge which is recognised by golfers all over the world.
Later in the day you may want to see if you can fit in a visit to one of the charming and picturesque fishing villages with your guide. These harbour houses are now popular with artists and writers but the sea still has a heavy influence on everyday life for most people in the local communities. They also have award-winning fish and chips, which are well worth sampling before you return to Edinburgh.
