The Kohler's Trip To Ireland

Mike & Leigh

Tuesday 5th August – Monday 11th August 2025

Number of Travellers: 2
Duration: 7 Days / 6 Nights

Overview

Picturesque coastal towns and villages, green pastoral fields, soaring cliffs, wild barren landscapes, the crash of the ocean, the laugh of a local. Ireland is romantic, and authentic, a home away from home where both old and modern seem to cohabit seamlessly on a small island in the middle of the sea. Packed with history and tradition your days are spent exploring the island of Ireland’s famous and off-the-beaten-track sites of natural, cultural and political interest. A world-renowned food scene means your evenings are spent dining in style and with the promise of a pub just around the corner, music and laughter are never far away. Your trip to Ireland will surprise and delight you but the people of Ireland will stay with you, long after your journey has taken you home.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Tuesday 5th August - Céad míle fáilte - One Hundred Thousand Welcomes

Welcome to Ireland! Arriving in Dublin today, take a taxi to pick up your rental car and begin your journey into the countryside, travelling through Ireland’s hidden heartlands. Sheen Falls is situated amidst the majestic landscapes of the Ring of Kerry and once you have checked in we have arranged an afternoon of Clay Pigeon Shooting. The quintessential country pursuit, clay pigeon shooting is the perfect way to sharpen your reaction time, test your accuracy and indulge in some good, old-fashioned competition. We recommend dinner tonight in the Falls Restaurant onsite.

Overnight: Kenmare | Sheen Falls Lodge

Day 2 - Wednesday 6th August - Forage & Feast in a Temperate Rainforest

This morning you will drive 20 minutes south to West Cork to enjoy a fully immersive experience in the sights, sounds, smells & tastes of a rare temperate rainforest valley & bay on the Wild Atlantic Way. Too often overlooked by visitors, the Beara Peninsula is a hidden paradise. At each turn, there is a new view to marvel upon, with panoramas over the hidden valleys, rocky slopes, sheep-dotted hills and far-away lakes. Make sure to leave room after breakfast this morning, as your experience of the day involves meeting local foraging expert Kloe to share in her craft on the remote southern edge of the Beara Peninsula. After an hour out in the field learning the science and practices of foraging in the woods, reconvene around a campfire together for a cooked lunch of your gathered goods.

Day 3 - Thursday 7th August - The Ring of Kerry

The Ring of Kerry is often used as a substitute name for the Iveragh Peninsula, but more properly it refers to the 175-kilometre road that encircles this vast, scenic leg of land on the southwest of the island. We’ll recommend all the popular spots as well as some hidden gems for your day along the Peninsula.  You’ll stop mid-way at the Skellig Six 18 Distillery where you’ll meet a local storyteller and discover the science and art of crafting Irish Whiskey, all while learning the history and mythology of this ancient land. Finish up back in Kenmare in time for dinner and your last evening in the southwest.

Day 4 - Friday 8th August - Killarney National Park & Dromoland Castle

Kerry is an expanse of rugged, mountainous country that sweeps down to the world-famous Lakes of Killarney. Here, stretching across 10,000 hectares, lies Killarney National Park, with its unforgettable combination of mountains, lakes, woodland and waterfalls. Take a tour of the famed Killarney Lakes with Dux, your Kerryman skipper who has been sailing these lakes since he was a child with his family. Alighting back on solid land, make your way through North Kerry, finishing up at Dromoland Castle. Welcoming guests since the 16th century, this is the ancestral home of the O’Briens of Dromoland whose lineage dates back 1,000 years to Brian Boru, one of the last High Kings of Ireland.

See the Georgian-style Merrion Square, lush St. Stephen’s Green and Fitzwilliam Square, as well as O’Connell Street, the site of the ‘1916 Uprising’ that led to Ireland’s independence in 1922.
