Mini Bio

Having lived and travelled across Ireland, Scotland and the US, I am delighted to be able to put my professional experience, as well as my years planning fantasy holidays to good use.

It is exciting to be able to use my knowledge of Ireland to help create amazing Irish experiences for visitors to the Emerald Isle. Outside work, I have my hands full with two kids, a triathlon-mad husband, two dogs, two cats, pet rats and various tropical fish. I still find time to run, hike and travel, and I love nothing more than exploring the roads of Sligo on my bike when I get a chance.

As Director of Wilderness Ireland, I get to use my creativity and knowledge of Ireland to create fun, unique and innovative itineraries custom designed for each client.

Favourite Place to Play

It’s hard to beat the dramatic, empty landscapes and wild seascapes of north Mayo. But Sligo – the region where I’m from – is pretty great too.

Not a lot of people know this about me

I’m named after a song by Irish singer, Chris de Burgh.

Education & Experience Read More

As my family once owned one of Sligo’s most interesting castle hotels, I’ve been lucky enough to have worked in travel & hospitality for most of my career. In fact, I was manager at Markree Castle for 8 years before joining Wilderness Ireland in 2015, first as an Adventure Consultant, later becoming the Director & General Manager at Wilderness Ireland. As part of the Wilderness Group, I work with travel agents and trade partners to create luxury custom travel itineraries across Ireland.

These roles have given me expert knowledge on Ireland’s top luxury and boutique castles, manors, hotels, and accommodations, as well as unique insider travel experiences – such as foraging for seaweed feasts, getting fitted for custom tweed suits or simply meeting local farmers who bring you into their home and onto their farm.

Travel & Biggest Adventures Read More

One of my favourite places to travel is America’s Heartlands – those so-called “fly over” states that get ignored by most visitors to the USA… in fact, my honeymoon was a road trip through middle America!

I’ve also visited countries all over Europe, including living a few months in Limoges, France (where I picked up a bit of French). With my family, we have travelled throughout the UK, Spain, Morocco and so many more exciting and beautiful places. I also spent several years living in Glasgow, Scotland, where I got my Masters at Glasgow University.

Hobbies & Activities Read More

I love road cycling and truly do think that Ireland – the West Coast of Ireland in particular – is one of the best places in the world to explore on two wheels. I also enjoy running (I even did a marathon once upon a time), and hiking with my husband and children.

Favourite Regions Read More

One of my all-time favourite regions is the wild, empty landscapes of Co Mayo – such as the Silver Strand, Carrowteige, and the Nephin Beg hills. Other nearby northwest counties of Sligo and Donegal are equally as amazing and off-the-radar. All three are among Ireland’s least-visited counties – it’s my goal to show off the beauty of the northwest to visitors from near and far.
