Day by Day

Day 1 - Welcome to London

Arrive in London and transfer to your centrally located hotel, taking some time to relax ahead of your first evening in the vibrant capital city. With a well-known and well-deserved reputation for an eclectic and globally diverse food scene, your dinner this evening is sure to be a thoroughly enjoyable affair. As the sun dips below the impressive skyline, draw the curtains on the twinkling lights of the city and enjoy a good night’s sleep.

Day 2 - Self Guided London Exploration

After breakfast, head out into the historic streets to explore London at your own pace. You may like to visit one of the city’s excellent museums, thread your way through a vintage market, or take a stroll through the deep green of Hampstead Heath. With many delicious cafes and restaurants around every corner, there are plenty of places to pause amidst the hustle and bustle for a cool drink and a bite to eat. This evening, relax back at your hotel or head out for dinner.

Day 3 - Self Guided London Exploration

Enjoy another day of discovering London under your own steam. Visit some of the city’s famous landmarks, including the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and St Paul’s Cathedral. Wander through the bright streets of Notting Hill and into the energising clamour of Portobello Road Market. This evening, gain a bird’s eye view of the city by taking a trip on the London Eye and, after dinner, heading into the iconic West End to enjoy a theatre performance.

Day 4 - Transfer to Cambridge & Punting Tour

Meet your local guide and driver this morning and travel to the beautiful city of Cambridge. Once arrived, explore the city sights by cruising down the river on a traditional punting tour. A beloved tradition in Cambridge for over a century, settle into the flat-bottomed boat and let your expert punt chauffeur reveal the spectacular architecture of King’s College. This evening, relax at your centrally located hotel.

Day 5 - Train to Liverpool & Explore

After a relaxed breakfast, catch the train north into Liverpool. A UNESCO City of Music, Liverpool has some seriously cool credentials (most notably the Beatles) and contains the highest number of national museums and listed buildings anywhere in the UK (after London). Enjoy an afternoon exploring at your own pace, perhaps wandering around the Royal Albert Dock, visiting the British Music Experience or winding through Liverpool’s Chinatown – one of the oldest Chinese communities in Europe.

Day 6 - Beatles Magical Mystery Tour

After breakfast, join a brilliant Beatles Tour. Board the Magical Mystery Bus and visit all things Beatles – including Penny Lane, Strawberry Field and the childhood home of Paul McCartney. Enjoy entry to the world-famous Cavern Club, where the band performed 292 times. After lunch, enjoy another afternoon exploring at your own pace. You may like to visit the Tate Liverpool, home to a fantastic, world-leading mix of contemporary art or indulge in a spot of shopping. Round off your day by sipping a cocktail at one of the many rooftop bars looking out over the city.

Day 7 - Travel to Glasgow & History Talk

Leave Liverpool this morning and travel north to Glasgow, Scotland. Meet your local drive guide at the Railway Station and head out for lunch. This afternoon, enjoy a private talk with a noted historian about emigration in Scotland. Learn more about the movement of people from Scotland to the US, Canada and other countries throughout the 17th-19th centuries. After the talk, enjoy chatting about all things Scottish. This evening, settle into your lovely hotel and relax.

Day 8 - Loch Lomond & Rob Roy McGregor

As bagpipes skirl through Glasgow’s cobbled streets, head north into Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Arrive in Balquhidder and visit the grave of Scotland’s most renowned and infamous outlaw, Rob Roy McGregor. Chat with your guide about McGregor’s life, hearing the exciting stories of a life lived on the wrong side of the river. Afterwards, enjoy a short walk to a beautiful viewpoint before continuing to your elegant hotel for dinner.

Day 9 - Visit Killin Village & Exploring

Today, visit the small, pretty village of Killin, located at the western end of Loch Tay. From the village bridge, admire the river as it flows over the Falls of Dochart and visit the ancient burial ground of the Clan MacNab. After a relaxed morning, spend the afternoon walking, biking or paddling in the surrounding area. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, looking out across the glittering waters to the heathery hillsides beyond.

Day 10 - Stirling Castle & The Kelpies

After breakfast, continue your adventure north, ribboning your way towards Edinburgh. Along the way, stop for a tour of Stirling Castle, stepping into the world of Scottish royalty and learning about the castle’s incredible history. Afterwards, a bit further up the road, stop in Helix Park to see the largest equine sculptures in the world, the famous Kelpies. Arrive in the twinkling lights of the city this evening and settle into your central hotel.

Day 11 - Exploring Edinburgh

After a leisurely breakfast, head out the door to spend the day exploring the city. Enjoy a morning stroll down to the Waters of Leith, meandering your way along the river to the historic and beautiful Dean Village. While you walk, look out for solitary statues that stand in the water, silently watching the river as it winds its way to the sea. Pick up a fresh coffee and browse the art galleries, booksellers and artisanal food shops. After lunch, you may like to walk up Arthur’s Seat, an extinct volcano in the centre of the city, which is popular with both tourists and locals alike.

Day 12 - Day Trip to St Andrews

After breakfast, head out to enjoy a day trip to the coastal town of St Andrews. Accompanied by your guide, take a stroll through the medieval streets, admiring the architecturally stunning university, visiting the quiet, Cathedral and meandering down to the quaint harbour. St Andrews is also known as the ‘home of golf’, so if you like, we can arrange a round or two on one of the famous courses this afternoon.

Day 13 - Free Day in Edinburgh

Today the itinerary is flexible for you to do as you please. You may wish to head out and explore the city’s winding alleys and cobblestone streets, wander up the Royal Mile, and visit St Giles’ Cathedral (which has been a working church for over 900 years). After lunch, perhaps visit Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, or step inside the National Museum on Chambers Street. Enjoy a delicious dinner at your hotel this evening, or head out to eat at one of the city’s many award-winning restaurants.

Day 14 - Travel to Dublin & Explore

Catch a flight to Dublin this morning and meet your private driver, making the short journey to your city centre hotel. Your room is held for you, so check-in is available on arrival. Take some time to relax and enjoy lunch before meeting a local guide for a fantastic and engaging walking tour of the city. Discover the story behind the Book of Kells – the most famous medieval illuminated manuscript in the world, and enjoy exploring St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Temple Bar and Stephen’s Green. Enjoy a delicious dinner this evening, toasting your first night on the Emerald Isle.

Day 15 - Hidden Dublin and Artisanal Treasures

After breakfast, head out for another day of exploring with your guide. Get off the beaten track as you discover hidden gems and secret spots in this bustling capital city. Wind your way through Georgian Dublin and visit the Little Museum of Dublin, located in one of the city’s finest townhouses. Enjoy a delicious lunch before an afternoon of treasure hunting in the artisanal local shops.

Day 16 - Free Day

Today is yours to explore as you wish. After a busy few days, you may like to enjoy some time simply relaxing at your hotel, perhaps indulging in a spa treatment and, later on, a delicious afternoon tea. If you fancy stretching your legs, why not take a stroll into the bustling shopping district to pick up some vacation presents? There’s also the opportunity to visit the iconic Guinness Brewery and Storehouse for a tour or the Bow Street Jameson Distillery. Your guide will also be on hand should you wish to take any last-minute tours or to help you explore.

Day 17 - Dublin to Galway

After breakfast, leave Dublin and head west to the colourful city of Galway. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way, Galway is bright and bohemian, with cobbled streets full of culture, artistry, and exceptional food. In addition to being a popular seaside destination, it also has a thriving, cosmopolitan centre and an offbeat cafe and bar scene. This afternoon, meet a local musician for a private tour, learning about the heritage and traditions of this exciting place. Enjoy dinner this evening and perhaps an evening tipple in the lovely hotel gardens.

Day 18 - Exploring The Aran Islands

Today, spend your time exploring the Aran Islands: three distinctive, wild and remote isles that once held a position of great trading power. Now a bastion of traditional language, culture and music, they are as interesting as they are beautiful. Inis Mór (the largest of the three) is home to a prehistoric semi-circular stone fort and is best explored by bicycle or horse and carriage. Enjoy a private tour of a goat farm and meet the inquisitive herd of goats who graze the windswept pastures. Come away laden with cheese, returning to the mainland just as the sky blushes pink against the blue silhouette of the Connemara mountains.

Day 19 - Killarney National Park

Spend the day exploring the enchanting scenery of Killarney National Park, which encompasses a stunning combination of mountains, lakes, woodlands and waterfalls. Enjoy a tour of the famed Killarney Lakes with Dux, your Kerryman skipper, who has been sailing these lakes since he was a child. Explore Muckross Abbey, with its ancient and mystical yew tree growing in its centre and visit the Muckross Estate, home of lords, ladies and gentlemen. If you would prefer, we can easily arrange biking, horse riding or hiking with your guide.

Day 20 - Beara Peninsula and Live Music

The Beara Peninsula’s impressive landscape includes rugged mountains, narrow valleys, dramatic coastlines, and charming villages. Today’s route weaves through heather-cloaked hills and rocky cliffs, revealing some of its most breathtaking views. Here, surrounded by the wilderness, meet a local archaeologist and folklore expert, Carina. Visit ancient sites and stone circles, learning more about the region’s rich history of both fact and fiction. Head out to a local pub this evening to enjoy some traditional Irish music.

Day 21 - Relaxing at the Ballyfin Demesne

This morning, head to Ballyfin Demesne – an exclusive hotel where stone walls enclose 614 acres of beautiful ground. You’re encouraged to relax and enjoy all this place has to offer today, with your guide on hand should you require anything further afield. Explore the eighty-foot library, soak up the grandeur of the saloon, or sink into the informality of the sun-filled conservatory (reached through a secret door hidden in a bookshelf). Unwind in the pool, relax with a massage or enjoy the rejuvenating qualities of a cold plunge and a hot sauna. Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea this afternoon, or head out onto the lawns for an alfresco picnic basket. This evening, a celebratory meal by candlelight will bring your Irish adventure to its perfect close.

Day 22 - Departure
