Day by Day

Day 1 - Arrive in England

Land at London Heathrow today and meet your private driver in the arrivals hall. Enjoy a warm welcome and settle back into your seat as you ribbon your way out of the city and into the green embrace of the surrounding countryside. Arrive in the historic city of Oxford and check-in to your lovely hotel. Known as the city of dreaming spires, Oxford is a beautiful place full of stunning architecture which is perfect to explore on foot. Stroll along the bustling cosmopolitan streets, popping into artisanal shops and galleries. This evening, enjoy a relaxed dinner before turning in for a good night’s sleep.

Day 2 - Exploring Oxford – Guided

After breakfast, meet your local city guide in the lobby of your hotel and head out for an exciting walking tour of Oxford. An established town since the 9th century, people have inhabited this area for thousands of years. Visit Radcliffe Camera (part of the central Bodleian Library complex) and the hallowed halls of Christ Church College. Weave your way through cobblestone streets – discovering secret spots and hidden gems –  as your guide brings the history of this wonderful city to life with fantastic facts and entertaining stories. This evening, as the sky blushes pink beyond the spires, relax with a cocktail and take in the views.

Day 3 - The Cotswolds & Broadway Tower – Guided

Leave Oxford this morning with your private driver guide and travel west into the Cotswolds. England’s largest area of outstanding natural beauty, the landscape here is a medley of rolling sheep-speckled fields, honey-coloured villages and ancient deciduous woodland. Arrive in the picturesque town of Broadway (known as the Jewel of the Cotswolds) and climb the town’s famous gothic folly, which offers a panorama of the surrounding countryside. Afterwards, enjoy exploring Broadway’s quaint streets before settling into your charming hotel nestled in the very heart of the village.

Day 4 - Hiking in the Hills – Guided

After breakfast, lace up your boots and strike out for a beautiful hike with your guide. Following a scenic trail, walk through old, leafy woodland and along verdant fields criss-crossed by drystone walls. Enjoy the way the landscape changes underfoot and the views that stretch from fence post to fence post towards the horizon. Along the way, meander through pretty villages, pausing for a leisurely lunch in a traditional, ivy-clad pub. As ice and lemon clink in the sunshine, enjoy the pub’s relaxed, friendly ambience and delicious seasonal food. Continue your walk this afternoon before returning to your hotel to celebrate a day thoroughly well spent.

Day 5 - Chedworth Villa & Exploring Bilbury - Guided

Head out this morning to visit the remains of Chedworth Villa – one of the grandest Roman villas in the UK. Tucked beneath old trees, the peaceful tranquillity of the place is matched only by its exceptional insight into life during the Roman period in Britain. With its stunning mosaic floors, heating systems and bathhouse rooms, it’s a fascinating place to explore. Afterwards, head to the nearby village of Bibury for a long and decadent lunch. This afternoon, you may wish to join your guide for a walk, cycle or ride, take some time to curl up with a book, or enjoy an indulgent few hours at a spa.

Day 6 - Neolithic Stones & Chelsea – Guided

After breakfast, continue your adventure by travelling to the enchanting village of Avebury. Here, past and present collide as the parish is partly encompassed by Avebury henge and stone circles – one of the greatest marvels of prehistoric Britain. Built and much altered roughly between 2850 BC and 2200 BC, the henge survives as a huge circular bank and encircles the largest stone circle in Britain. Shrouded in myth, enjoy exploring the henge and chatting with your guide about the region’s rich history. This afternoon, travel back to London and relax at your elegant hotel in the heart of the city’s prestigious Chelsea district.

Day 7 - Trotting Through London – Guided

Today, head out for an energising day exploring London. From Hyde Park, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride. Day 8 - Riches and Rubies – Guided

Meet your private city guide in the lobby of your hotel this morning and head out for a brilliant and engaging walking tour. As red buses and black cabs trundle around corners, wind your way through London’s streets, learning more about the city’s turbulent history that stretches back over 2000 years. Visit the Tower of London and take the opportunity to observe the most powerful symbols of the British Monarchy – the Crown Jewels. Afterwards, indulge in a delicious lunch at Borough Market before visiting Westminster Abbey. Raise a glass of champagne over a candlelit dinner this evening and celebrate your English adventure.
